Description
Y'all are gonna be mad, but I think trading Marner gives endless possibilities for bolstering the lineup and making the team deeper. Don't read too deep into the trades itself, it's more about the sentiment of what you can do with the cap space etc.. lmk what you think.

Calgary doesn't even get off speaker phone for this one.

Trading Marner to re-work a roster with more cap space, and greater depth throughout the lineup could make sense-- But I imagine the only core player to see the block this summer will be Willy-- based solely on how much easier it will be to move his contract being at a lower cap hit & final year of the deal.

I dont know if theres enough FROM TOR in any of those deals for the other teams.

Not throwing Leafs under the bus,

but does PHI trade 2 RW, (as youve put them as 2RW and 3RW, with both young, productive, signed for 7 mil) for an almost 11mil guy with just 2 yrs til UFA?
Is a 5th and 7th TWO drafts away, enough for CBS to take Murray, when they need someone who'll actually play?
Liljegren didnt even dress for half the playoffs, is entering his 4th pro season and might be due to a payday, an offensive, small prospect in robertson who hasnt produced in an offensive system, suffered numerous injuries and a 3rd TWO drafts away? I know Lindholm is an expiring UFA, but CGHY has no one at center to replace him, and TOR lacking youth is selling VERY low on liljegren and robertson. CGY would get alot more at TDL for Lindholm.

I just dont see the other teams being interested in those returns, especially as most of those are at a low point in value

Flyers are not one superstar forward away from being a contender. They are rebuilding so taking Marner doesn't make sense.

Columbus already has 1 long term goalie contract that's looking bad. No need to add another and pay over 10 mil a szn for a bottom 10 duo in the league. Gonna cost way more than that to offload the Murray contract and I don't think Columbus is the place to do it.

The Boston first rounder needs to be included in the Columbus trade. There's no way they will take on a $6.25 million M-NTC Matt Murray for anything less than a first rounder. He has tremendously negative value and will be impossible to move.

Every Leafs fan apparently thinks we are going to give them every player they want and give them every pick they ask so they can watch Marner or AM34 or Willy be on a bottom 10 team lol it’s just delusional thinking that everyone wants to bend over for the Leafs

You obviously didn't read my description. The point of my post isn't the specific trades. It's more about what sort of roster flexibility the leafs have by moving an expensive piece like Marner and adding Knies who's on an ELC. The specific teams and players involved my trades are just there as placeholders for how I'd construct a roster to make them more competitive. But yes, go off King.
