Avs decline. Not sure I'd even trade Toews for Nylander 1 for 1 and tbh at this point I wouldn't have any interest in any of the choke artists in the Leafs top 6.

I doubt you’re getting Newhook on top of Toews unless you add a similarly valuable piece

Why are the Avs adding Newhook? Toews and Nylander are both rentals

I dont think I would do Toews for Nylander straight up, Toews would have a bigger impact on team success as a 1LD than Nylander would as a 2RW imo, plus he has a lower AAV so you can add more depth elsewhere

Have fun with whoever is signing Toews to a monster deal from ages 30 to 38. Yuck

Ughhh. I love it when Toronto loses in the playoffs. But these insane trade ideas are a high price to pay the following days....
And Matt Murray has negative value FYI...

Not worth it to move up only a couple of spots. Expect adding another late 2nd from Toronto.

You'd be wise to keep him and pay him then if he's that good and dump one of the others.....just not to the Avs.

Habs say no. Taking on Murray's 5M isn't worth it unless they unload Allen, and they won't do that. I don't think anybody is taking a shot on Murray with this season's injuries. Not for moving 8 spots up.

Depends on the AAV, but it doesnt have to be an 8 year deal

Anyway it doesnt really have anything to do with this trade since the extensions arent part of it. As a rental I would rather have Toews than Nylander

As long as they expect Landeskog will return after next year, Colorado probably doesn't sign either long term. So it's most likely more about who is more valuable for one year.

There is also at least some chance that Toews doesn't chase the money and signs a more reasonable deal to stay put with his young family. Probably a long shot, but it's at least possible. There is likely no chance Nylander gives Colorado any type of discount.

More than anything though, Toews at 4M plus a wing via trade or free agency is probably better than Nylander at 7M plus whoever replaces Toews and Newhook. It just doesn't add up.

Montreal has 3 goalies who need waivers going into next season, why the hell would they use their limited cap space for a goalie they don't need just to move less than 10 spots up in the draft?

That's fun... Devon Toews is one of the top defensive dmen in the entire NHL on a sweetheart contract... so, let's not start with the comparable. This trade is an easy "No" for the Avs.

Better than that, he's a two-way guy that can run a PP. The Leafs would love to have him anchoring their 2nd pair and running PP2.

Habs arent eating 4.5 million and helping our rivals to move up 9 spots. That 1st would have to be FC for the Habs to take that
