Improving teams future part 1

Created by: Rob32sjsharks
Team: 2023-24 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: May 8, 2023
Published: May 15, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
23 Draft:
4th OA Will Smith RHC
26th OA Kohen Zeimmer RW
36th OA Michael Hrabal G

Sharks biggest needs going into 23 draft is simple, high end skill! Primarily at RW RD G and C. This draft goes a long way to building our prospect pool.

Trades:
Petersen trade free’s up cap so LAK can sign or trade for a legit starter. If not LAK, then maybe Toronto and Murray, or Vegas and Lehner, though that wouldn’t come with a good pick in return.

Karlsson trade seems inevitable with sharks in the beginning of what is a substantial rebuild. Where he goes and for what is very debatable but for now I posted this deal as it seems reasonable. and guys I understand if Dallas wants nothing to do with him, this is just trying to asses reasonable value.

Signings:
No free agents are signed or resigned, mainly focusing on the rebuild and continued evaluation of our older prospects. This will be a big season for guys like Gregor, Labanc, Kunin, Zetterlund, Peterson, Kaut, Knyzhov, Ferraro, Kahkonen, and Petersen.

I expect this team to be bottom 5 again in the league in 23/24 leading to another high 1st. Hope is top 2 in the draft.

Seguin won't waive for San Jose, and the Stars have Heiskanen to run the show.

Is there any team that looks like a fit for Karlsson? Seems like no one is an obvious yes.

Like I said in the description it’s an idea, trade doesn’t need to be to the stars

Seguin isn't waiving for San Jose, And there's no way Dallas can afford Erik Karlsson at $9,000,000 per for the next 4 years.

Am I the only one who thinks Hrabal is overrated? Not great numbers. I want San Jose to take a European, more proven nhl goalies for sure. Dybal in later rounds would be a steal

You’re saving 850K over Seguin for a defenseman that just scored 100 points seriously?

Yeah well like i said, Seguin isn't wasting his time with San jose. So Karlsson to Dallas is pretty moot.

He is really athletic and smart but plays in a very offensive focused league. Very raw but has all the tools to be a top 15 starter in the league, Will he reach his potential is a great debate

Maybe Pavelski can talk up SJS for us! And with SJS he’s almost guaranteed top line min in a very chill environment so maybe!

Regardless if you read the description I said this was just an idea and where Karlsson goes and what for is very much up in the air.
