No way would I take that little of return for Matthews, especially with retention. Also I’m not the biggest fan of the Hellebuyck trade either.

WPG hangs up the phone and laughs for a long time. Curious... why would anyone think a Vezina Award winning goalie who has been nominated a few times including this year, be traded for a tiny little nothing prospect, a 3rd liner and a couple of whatever picks? Oh wow... just realized. You are a Laffs fan. Laffs fans and Habs fans are beyond deluded.

Take out Byfield, Clarke, and Vilardi, and maybe the Kings would consider it.

Name a goalie in his late 20's that has won the Vezina recently and has been nominated for it a few times and SINGLE-HANDEDLY wins most of the games the Jets win. Everyone knows that when Helly plays well, the Jets win. If he has a bad or even average game, they lose. After Sarros, Helly is the best goalie in the league. He will get more. Guaranteed.

Assume that Vilardi and Samsonov get about the same amount on their new contracts. How are the Kings absorbing the $14 million additional cap hit from Matthews and Brodie?

Substitute Arvidsson, Iafallo and Petersen for Byfield, Clarke and Vilardi. That's the only way the money works.

Saros, Vasilevskiy, Shesterkin, Sorokin, Demko and Oettinger are all better then Hellebuyck.

They'll get better then that if they trade Hellebuyck which hopefully they do but it won't be much better.

If he's not open to an extension and want's free agency, you aren't getting anything close to this as a rental.

Fair enough, but I still think there’s a better deal to be gotten for him.

I think Toronto fans need to stop these trades, sign AM and continue building the team around him. If he is gung-ho about going to the free agency partner with a tanking team to retain 50% and get a payday from a winnow team like the Rangers, Calgary, or a Florida team.

I personally agree 100% with your comment here. Shipping off AM isn’t going to solve their problems, only give up a star player for scraps for most of these proposed trades

To be clear, I've never suggested Matthews will ever play with the Kings. I don't think he ever will. I'm not the one creating these ACGMs.

All I'm saying is that Toronto fans are insane if they think the Kings are sending back any combination of Clarke, Byfield, Vilardi, and/or several 1st round picks. It's just not going to happen.

You do know you wear the crown for the biggest Kings homer on here right?

I actually think I'm quite reasonable, but sure.

Never have I said that Toronto should trade Matthews to LA for a less than desirable return. Several times have I said that LA isn't going to trade their best young players for Matthews. I realize that likely means that Matthews isn't going to get traded to the Kings.

If that makes me a homer, then so be it.

Reasonably always thinking all Kings players are the best. And you hate TO more than you like the kings so it's impossible to have a conversation with you. Of course you'll counter that I am a big Homer but being a terrible Leafs homer on here means I don't hate the Leafs.

Who says I think they're the best? Not being willing to trade a young prospect for a guy like Matthews doesn't mean I think the prospects are better than Matthews. Just that the Kings aren't willing to trade them.

You know the old saying about birds and bushes.
