Rangers wouldn't do that trade even if you took Lafreniere out.

More to the point, the whole reason why Trouba has an absolute NMC is because his wife wants to stay in NY, and if you've ever come close to having a wife, you know how compelling a reason that is.

You need that 2024 third to pay us for Myers, anyway.

Cold day in hell before Trouba would ever waive his NMC for Vancouver. He won't waive for any Canadian team. He'll go where his Dr wife does her practice and it won't be in Canada.

trades make sense other then the NYR trade. I don't think Lafreniere is worth 6M. id give him around 3M. But tell me why 6M?

Pens decline. They have no need for Boeser.

it's a gamble, overpay him now in hopes that he lives up to the potential so in a couple years it looks like a steal.

Leafs decline, they are in win now mode, this is a move a team looking to start a rebuild would make (not saying the value is bad, its pretty close to what you could ask for). If Nylander were to be moved it would be for a piece that is currently equal

Also it took Mackinnon 5 years to put up star numbers and he played top 6 a lot more than laf.

MacKinnon also had an amazing rookie season where he won the Calder and then played on some really bad teams which justified his poor production, Laf has spent his entire career on a contender and is not being given any opportunities in NYR, he has likely asked for a trade

Well that's the thing that these gms need to realize is that the young kids coming into the league don't have control. If he doesn't want to play for the rangers anymore they should just qo him let him play in Europe and wast le his career, same thing I wish the rangers would've done to kravtsov.

MacKinnon also didn't have a pandemic to contend with his draft year and year after. Two extremely important developmental years. Not making excuses for LaF- just he needs a little more time to show what he can be in this league. And while NYR wait for that, he is not hurting the team while he develops. Of course if another team wants to give Drury an offer he can't refuse...which for VAN would be #11 +, then maybe he is moved. Short of that, patience is required and bridge deal incoming.

understandable if it was 4M but 6M is a huge risk. You dont want another Mikheyev or Garland situation. if he doesn't play well then that's another L for the Canucks. Makes more sense to not overpay him and then if he's playing higher then what he's worth then that's a bigger W for the organization
