No.

I wouldn't pay Matthews, $13+, Nylander $10+, Marner $12+ and JT $7 going forward.

Dubas is gone.

He's emotional unstable, seeing him throw full blown tantrums during the playoffs shows he has lost his mind.

One year of Nylander isn't worth that to non playoff team.

Not if Willy plans on being difficult during contract talks and places the fear of another UFA walk off.

So you admit Nylander should be traded, because all the other core players have NMC.

You obviously didn't see the Leafs Press conference. Lots of patting themselves on the back. Leafs are running it back. Only Keefe will be axed. But hey, De Nile ain't just a river in Egypt, Guy. 👍

There are better returns out there. Leafs don't need draft picks, they need bodies. Nylander should be traded for a defenceman, preferably a younger guy under team control.

Dubas lost his mind because he'll never understand why his good on paper team fails, the guy has no real hockey knowledge.

Virtually all players are difficult in negotation=, If I'm the Leafs (and Dubas shouldn't be GM), I'd be probably be a seller this season. But if you keep the players for another playoff run, I wouldn't worry much if Matthews and Nylander didn't resign with the Leafs. Leafs just have to spend that new found cap on good value players. And really if the Leafs were pay Matthews and Nylander a total of 4m more, it doesn't make the Leafs any better, you've just your own players more $$$.

The way Seattle is build with a ten $4 million star players is working better than the Leafs team of $40 million on 4 superstars.

I'll maintain that Dubas has lost in some many contract negotiations, especially Matthews and Marner at time of their signings. Leafs drafting has been awful partly because Dubas has traded away so many picks and prospects at TDL.....yeah we have seen how well that has worked out. Without young good ELC players the Leafs are constantly looking for aging cheap veterans.
Don't care is Dubas has passion for his job, and the Leafs. He is undeserving of a contract extension.

You mentioned Seattle, looks like the Sabres did the same. Gee, they have two stud centres signed long term for 14.2m

And Dubas Draft picks were all similar player styles, no variety.

I wondered who (Matthews watching Arz high school hockey games?) scouted Knies for Dubas, there was no way Dubas noticed him first.

Pretty drafting by the Leafs....Four high first rounders (easy picks).....Reilly (by Burke), Nylander and Matthews (by Lou I believe) and Marner. Plus Liljgren (17th overall) The only other Leafs draft picks on the Leafs were emergency call up Woll and later arrival Knies. That's pretty pathetic. And it gets worse, with so few good picks in the next few years.

Don't forget Mason Marchment who Dubas let go for tiny and useless Malgin.
