Dobson has more value than the 1st rnd and those 2 players.

I even think he has more value than Horvat if the Canucks wanted to do 1 for 1

I think they would've did the Horvat for Dobson trade considering they traded the prize asset they got for a different RD.

It's not a nice package. It's a mediocre middle-6 wing, a 25-year old third pair defenseman who's already on his third team, and the 11th overall pick that, best case, winds up being as good as Dobson three years from now, which is not ideal for a team in win-now mode.

How is that not good. You get two young roster players and the 11th pick. Garland is a middle 6 and Bear played well in top 4 with us.

Break it down this way. Which pick gets Dobson straight up? 6-8 maybe. So you get two roster players with decent upside to move back 3 spots.

Garland is mediocre and overpaid to the point where he doesn't add much if any value to the trade, and Bear is at best a third pair guy on a good team. The 1st is a nice asset, but it's not worth the hole in the lineup that moving Dobson would open, as whatever player they pick there is not realistically going to help the team this year.

That's why I said teams don't trade young top 4 dmen but the value is fine smile
