Wow, you gave LA way too much cap to consider. Timmins isn't worth a second rounder but the Leafs should keep him to see if can be a NHL regular. Why trade Lafferty for nothing?
ROR for six years...c'mon

Teams arent gonna give up their entire team's future for a rental, and especially not for Matthews of all players. His cap hit, combined with his injury troubles, his poor playoffs plays, and mediocre last season (by his standards) greatly decrease his value.

Palhal, I need your opinion. Im working on a Marner trade (not my idea, got it from a CF user) that gets the leafs 2 top 6 players+. Im also using EW's projected cap hits for UFA's.

Basically idk who to add as a depth player for 4 LW to play with Kampf and Lafferty. Who do you think they should go for, and if cap space is less of an issue due to Murray gping to Robidas Island, would you prefer a more premium top 4 dman or Schenn?

I'm beginning to think that math is an optional course in Canadian schools. Tell me (1) what you think the cap out for LA is from this trade, (2) what you think the cap in for LA is from this trade, (3) how much cap space LA has, and (4) how much you think RFA Gabe Vilardi is going to be signed for (never mind filling the other 5 open slots).

In what make-believe world would the Kings make their burdensome-goalie-slot even worse by turning Petersen's $5 million cap hit into Murray's $4,687,500 cap hit plus $2.5 million retention? The whole point of including Petersen in any trade is to get rid of his cap hit. But this trade, which is an early contender for The CapFriendly Hall of Shame Hart Trophy, couldn't be cured even if you took the goalies out completely. In fact, it's so breathtakingly, brain-dead awful that it couldn't be cured even if you took Murray and the retention out.

Well, Murray is not on LTIR as he was the back up goalie for the last game of the Panther but his buyout is cheap. so I think bought out.

I've really scratched my head on a Marner. IMO it's really difficult as who wants to take 11m X 2 Marner, and give up similar cap an talent to he Leafs. One option I would see be Pens Guentzel 6m X1 and someone else to the cap work. Maybe Dman Petterson, But even at that don't know if Pens do it.
Trouble with trading for an 11m Marner, not if any team can afford him, And if they can wouldn't they better just to sign an 11m UFA...which would give with term for those player(s).

Actually I think Marner stays for at least this season . If the Leafs are in a sell mode, I gotta think it's upcoming UFA Matthews and Nylander who will be traded....and with retention, Leafs could get a better deal.
Matthews...I think LA could be a destination, and if traded before the TDL, I think an eight year deal could make enticed to sign...make it a sign and trade.

4th line LWers....should be easy to find. Let's see Knies and maybe resigned UFA Bunting could be the top two. I'm still optimistic about Robertson being an NHLer If Kampf comes back as 4th liner, I would like to Holmberg in the NHL as either a centre or LWer. He has to play so LW it is till an injury comes to centre.
RW...I'm assuming Nylander and Marner are here. So maybe Jarnkrok is the 3rd line winger, though he was effective as LWer. Lafferty plays RW. If McCann can be 4th RWer then Jarnkrok goes to LW.

Idk if Marner will be traded or not but I think if they do make any move with the big 4 it will be before all 3 clauses kick in on July 1st. Either way im not really asking about that. More or less I have a 3rd line for this ACGM is Jarnkrok, ROR, and Acciari (or at least similar to those 2 UFA's, but I think they were both fantastic adds for Toronto). I just need to fill the 4LW slot and the 13th forward (which may end up being McMann or Cliford, I also have 5M to work with which was why I was curios if you would prefer to go after someone like Severson or Dumba. So basically im just curious if there is a depth LW out there on the UFA market you really want

I have Robertson playing in the AHL, I really think he needs to take a year down there to get his game back and just stay healthy.

Well it won't be Clifford. He was signed as "veteran:" presence with the Marines. I still wonder if ROR and Acciari should be Leafs. When you read some many Leafs post by Leafs posted....those UFAs are so needed to be resigned. I really don't see it unless the term and cap is good. Dumba and Severson will be overpaid by in $$$$ and term by some team shouldn't be the Leafs. Leafs Dman are fine, and they have to be "cheap" to make the cap work for the expensive forwards. Defence and goalies are about. 24.5m

Here's my opening day lineup

Centres: Matthews, Tavares, ROR, Kampf, Abruzzi
Defence. Reilly Schenn Goalies Samsonov
RW: Marner, Nylander, Accari, McMann McCabe. Liljegren Will
LW. Bunting, Knies, Jarnkrok, Holmberg. Giordano Brodie Murray bought out
Timmins
I have read that RHD Niemela has to be a Leaf, not a Marlie or else his Swedish team can claim him back to play in the SHL next season. Niemela should be playing in the Ahl, but he could be the eighth Dman, but the he has to get into some games as Leafs.
