laugh Capitals 8th overall pick is the only decent piece for Hellebuyck and Scheifele. The rest you can keep. Winnipeg passes.

All these Marner trades, he was arguably the best player in the playoffs.

For once, goaltending was not even a hint of a problem for the Leafs, yet everyone is dumping Samsonov.

Defense disappearing, Liljegren was awful, Brodie was terrible, and Matthews and Tavares being invisible while eating $22M in cap room was the problem.

WPG says... Yes, but with a change... You can keep Voit and Ovchi and send us Liljegren or Robertson instead. That #8 pick that you got from the CAPS makes this a deal. Samsonov will make a good 1B. The Jets will have to trade for another 1B or 1 to go with Samsonov though, because he's not a #1 goalie. The #28 pick will probably be nothing, but you never know.

Nylander will have better trade value anyhow.

Nylander's has a low cap hit, scores more goals, doesn't own a NMC and is ready for new contract talk.

But Leaf fans are jumping at news articles stating big trade move coming, similar to the Flames/Panthers trade from last summer.

Declining? When did he start to decline? I swear people just say dumb things and forget the internet exists and you can easily fact check things. Marner makes 2x Wilson and he’s FAR FAR FAR from being 2x the player.

Yeah I would take Wilson + 5.5m and the 8oa pick over Marner everyday of the week. Love how obsessed Leaf fans are with Wilson but refuse to give him decent trade value. Like “Hey I’ll give you play A for Wilson but you need to add a substantial assets even though my guy makes 2x the money and his game really sucks for the current playoffs blueprint OR MY FAVORITE a late 1st and a okay to good prospect”

Injuries and limited him to very few games this year. Regardless of how you slice it, that’s a HUGE concern. Take a look at players of his ilk and how they age. He play the game like a prise fighter/NFL player. That’s great BUT there is a reason the NFL plays 16 games a year and boxers fight once every 6 months.

Marner’s value >>> than Wilson

Lmfao. He was on pace for 30g and 50+ points. His knee was the injury not concussions or broken hands. That’s literally his career norm. Marner value would be much higher than Wilson’s if he didn’t make damn near 11m/ year. Geee I wonder why Leaf fans are trying to move him. OH WAIT could it be his giant cap hit? Yeah Wilson + 5.5m $$$ >>>> Marner. That’s just facts. His greed. MAtthews greed and JT contract are why this team fails every year. Don’t try to pass Marner off like he’s some prize without taking into consideration his massive contract. 😁

He’s a great player but in no world is he worth Marner. Plus you don’t get better trading 100 point Selke finalists in their prime.

Again you are missing the point (SHOCKER)… his cap hit sucks. You could LITERALLY have 2 Wilsons for the price of one Marner. Not gonna even point out the obvious like if Wilson had Matthews as a center he’s likely scoring 60-70’a year. Now YOU DONT WIN CUPS by paying multiple players 10million +. Wilson + Cap space > Marner all day everyday. Obviously this is why he’s likely traded

I think Nylander has a better chance at re-signing than Matthews does in Toronto.

IMO, smart move is trade Matthews for young high end prospects and picks, sign O'Reilly to a 3-4 year deal in the $5M range, re-sign Nylander for $2M more and start stocking the system full of young talent, you need ELC's to compete in the NHL now.

Dubas is extra proud of his prospects he Drafts but rarely does Keefe and him leave roster spots for them and they develop into Ahl not Nhl stars.

Who are these prospects? There's developing into NHL stars, and there's plugging a hole in a lineup.... not many of the pieces with the Marlies have the potential to turn into 250 game NHL-ers, despite not having open spaces due to poor cap management.

The organizational depth is not there, they are thin at every position.
