Add Jack Hughes to the deal and take out the retention, then it's pretty close.

Come on.... In what world is a top 5 player in history traded for a package that small. You would at a minimum have to include either Hughes or Hischier on top of that package.

I said in history. You can't argue that he's better than Gretzky yet. I still don't think he's better than Lemieux yet. You can say Top 3, but he's not the best yet.

You'd have to add more for the retention, and with Mercer and Hughes needing new deals, you would either have to include one of them, or you wouldn't afford McDavid.

It would take both Hughes brothers just to start a conversation. The compensation it would take to get McDavid would be ridiculous.
