Even if Calgary wanted to do this they'd need to send like 3.5-4 more in cap back to make this work

Sutter was only part of the problem. The teams total lack of offensive creation is extremely evident since Gaudreau left.

That's just not true at all. They were top of the league in offensive creation

The Flames were still one of the best 5v5 teams in the league this year, they just got let down by suboptimal goaltending and bad luck (ie leading the league in posts hit, etc)

As a Flames fan, like the idea. Probably have to sub out Anderson for someone else though. Flames aren't letting him go imo.

I figured cap wise, they'd probably need to move Hanifan or Andersson if they wanted to extend Weegar especially with the Huberdeau extension and Marner's contract on the books, so I was just being optimistic.

Agreed, Flames need to shed money. Hanifin imo is a more likely candidate for this deal given he's a UFA next summer, and would shed 5 mill for the Flames.
