As a Canucks fan living in Calgary, the last thing I want to see is flames succeed.. but that’s a massive overpay for Nylander.
Hanifin is a legit top 4 D and is just entering his prime.

Dube is a young player who is quality with RFA status and Hanifin is a T4 Defencemen + a first. Think about it

Trading the one person who showed up to score goals when scoring was a real issue for another defenseman is not a smart idea.

Our defence is not good enough to compete, Dube can score as well you know, look at the stats, PLUS a first for the future

I would rather weegar straight up for nylander.

Minnesota declines. They don't trade 1st round picks or top prospects like Rossi for rentals

Dube's career high of 18 goals is sure going to make up for Nylander's 40 a year.

I agree it isn't a good trade. However we don't think like NHL GMs do. Hanifin is 26, 500 games played in the NHL, good size, former top 5 pick. They eat that up

not to mention we cant afford Lindholm we need guys like Rossi on ELC to step up to navigate through cap hell for the next two years.

I'm not saying Hanifin isn't a good defender, I'm just pointing out that moving a forward who just scored 40 and scored some big goals in the playoffs for a defenseman when scoring goals is their biggest challenge right now is not a good idea. And I personally don't think Dube will make up for that.
