Description
NOTE: I'M WELL AWARE OF THE UNLIKELIHOOD THAT BOTH THE DRAFT AND THE OTHER TEAMS ARE LOOKING TO THE WILD TO FIX THEIR ISSUES! THIS IS PURE FANTASY!

Let's say the draft goes as follows:
1. [CHI] Bedard, C
2. [ANA] Fantilli, C
3. [CBJ] Carlsson, C
4. [SJS] Smith, C
5. [MTL] Benson, LW/C/RW
6. [ARZ -> MIN] Michkov, RW

For the sake of this thought experiment, indulge me while I give haphazard explanations on why teams 4 & 5 pass on Michkov and why ARZ would be willing to trade.
4. SJS owner does not want a long rebuild when he's paying ~40M on aging players / players in their prime. Instead, he opts for the good ole 'Merican boy.
5. MTL is in the second year of a 5 year rebuild; however, that can be expedited by acquiring Pierre-Luc Dubois. I'm also not seeing many Russians in their system, they tend to lean towards team canada. For that reason, they go with Benson.
6. ARZ is in a panic after losing the vote. As such, they receive a mandate from the NHL to cut their rebuild short so that the team will be competitive when/if the team moves. For that, they'd want a shutdown goalie and young, top-end talent that is NHL ready.

Wouldn't mind Foligno, but not at the cost of Kubalik. The Wings can't score goals, and Kuba does that.

Wouldn't be a fan of this. Kubalik is younger, scores between 35-45 points a year.

Detroit passes, Not trading a 27 year old Dominik Kubalic for a 32 year old Marcus Foligno.

laugh On the Arizona trade, Minnesota has the 21st overall pick. And no way are you getting the 6th and 12th overall picks for the players you're adding. Rossi isn't even living up to his full potential.

That's fair. I pondered whether I should make the trade in the first place since it's not a major priority of mine. Consider it a toss in.

Oh, I'm well aware. Almost any other team can easily beat this offer. I think it'd be sick for Rossi and Addison to be given a shot in Arizona or some team where the pressure will be far less. Mainly, I just couldn't help myself thinking about what it would be like to have both Michkov AND Yager. Realism be damned.

The value may be in the ballpark, but I don't think CHI would be interested. Bankier and Spacek just don't seem like they would fit Davidson's vision, and we already have players in our system of a similar caliber and style that they are probably trying to move at some point.
