Pens decline, 14 isn’t on the table, especially for a pylon like Edmundson. Though I do like Kidney.

OK. I think Montreal would just keep him if that were the case. They can afford to do so and would not want to give up picks in their rebuild scenario.

If Caufield was going to sign a 7 year deal for 7.5 it would already have done, so i expect either a bridge of 3-4 years at 7 or an 8 year deal at 8 8.5. 100% will be paying to dump hoffman, which i'm more than fine with wte it costs. If the habs look to trade back into the top 20 it will most likely be with a packge of futures, edmundson will either get dealt to a contender for cheap or they sit on him and hope for a healthy first half of the season and flip him at the deadline.

having cap space landed them a first to take on monahan, i think they value that cap flexibility, i dont think it will cost a 2nd to move hoffman but i would gladly pay a 3rd and a 5th/6th or a lesser prospect/pick package

What if Edmundson was taken out and Mattias Norlinder was added?

You are still getting a first rounder from Calgary in 2024 or 2025 + Kidney (could fill a 2nd or 3rd line center role in Pitt once Sydney and Evgeni retire) + the 3rd rounder this year.

Yeah, Caufield will probably be more expensive than $7.5M

I think you ****ed yourselves over with that Petry trade. It was just a smart move by Hughes and a dumb /desperate one by Hextall

I think if there was wiggle room for montreal to eat like 1450000 and make him 3 mil for 2 years colorado would take that trade. I'd assume they'd need to add the 3rd from 2025 since they don't have much else for draft capital to even it out.

Absolutely we did, it was more Hextall’s fault then anyone’s don’t get it twisted. Horrible move by Hextall moving Matheson, I still think about that all the time. Idiotic move by an idiotic GM.

it was very desperate indeed. He really wanted that right handed D-man, and sacrificing a good left d-man was not it. We love Matheson in MTL tho.

If the price is a 2nd to dump Hoffman, would the Habs consider something like Bailey + a 4th or 5th for Hoffman?

think they would prefer to pay to dump salary instead of receiving some late picks to take more on.

Facts, even if MM didn’t go off on MTL like he did it was a brain dead move. Create a hole on D and fill it with an older more expensive guy who was coming off a brutal season.
