What did you put in cbj’s drink for them to accept that?

I actually really like this trade for CBJ. Tavares would be a perfect stop gap for one of their young guys to take over. He would provide a ton of leadership as well.

Tavares is still a 9m dollar a year player. Clearly 11m is too much but I think 2 years of Tavares on Columbus would fit so perfectly for what they are trying to accomplish.

From a Seattle fan's perspective, that's actually a Marner trade I'd be fine with, depending on what happens with the rest of the Kraken roster over the offseason. I'd prefer Seattle's 2023 2nd gets changed to their 2024 2nd though. Another hiccup would be that I'm not sure GMRF is willing to trade away Bjorkstrand just a year after acquiring him. I guess we'll see there.

However, I doubt Leafs fans would be super thrilled with this move. And if Toronto is moving Marner or any of the core four for futures, I would think they try and flip those assets for an immediate impact contributor.

If Marner wasn’t my favourite player I would be fine with this trade as long as we used the picks for players to help us compete we are nowhere near rebuild phase

Makes sense. FWIW I'm a big fan of both Bjorkstrand and Marner. I personally think Francis traded for Bjorky with an eye towards keeping him for the long haul and am not really expecting any big swings from the Kraken this offseason, but I am also not an insider, so we'll see how everything shakes out.

I like both as well bjornstrand is really good. I have a friend who’s a Kraken fan and he always complains about Francis never making moves so not too sure if this is gonna happen lol

Francis is just being sensible. You get better deals for less in the off-season than the trade deadline, especially if you are a buyer. I'd prefer different picks for the deal mainly because of the lack of prospects still. I think after year 3 is when you seen the team start to transition as they find more of their identity, less worries about who will be playing at what level and when, and contracts coming off the books.

I'd absolutely love that for Columbus. Totally agree with your reasoning in a previous comment that he'd be perfect for this team. But Tavares says hard no.
