You don’t need to trade the two best players on the team.

The objective is getting rid of the ridiculously stupid Tavares contract & how that might look.

I don’t care what people think of the contracts or signings, it’s not the point, that was just filling out roster spots.

The thing is, this immediately ruins VANs cap space, but also if they flip some cap beforehand you do this easy

I mean this doesn't work for either team because Van is looking to gain cap space and that is a total overpay for Toronto.

It’s really not the point, poor Vancouver. It’s more of reading all these trades with Marner & Matthews while nobody Is doing anything about the worst contract on the Leafs.
you don’t need to ruin a team with terrible trades but I digress.

I wouldn't trade Miller 1 for 1 for Nylander or Tavares. This is an insane overpay

The trade is irrelevant, this is to show Leafs fans what it’s going to take to become competitive.

I think you need to realize that Miller is a better hockey player, playing on an inferior team and cheaper than Tavares but you keep on believing your team has a shot.
You need to overpay to get someone to take that boat anchor of a contract.
You can hate the trade all you want.

Ha! JT Miller is getting paid for what he did in his prime and will never again play to that level and is under contract for 8 years. You are a canucks fan hoping to get out of that 8 year term but arguing that 2 more years at a higher cap is somehow worse. It isn't

I get your point about wanting to trade Tavares. If the leafs can they should. However, this trade is awful and gets rejected by both sides.

That’s the point, the trade is really irrelevant, the point is all the GM trading Matthews & Marner but Tavares is just sitting there. That’s the problem, Tavares is 5M to 6M over.

That’s a few good players or retention of players.

I think that's because most people have accepted the fact that he can't be moved.

If that's the point of the trade, just trade Tavares and not 5 other pieces because this just distracts from that point.
