Team: 2023-24 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: May 17, 2023
Published: May 19, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just some small tweaks by the Hurricanes... I'm a really big fan of Nico Daws and I think he'd make an excellent tandem with Kochetkov. I'm not sure about the return for Daws and Sharangovich... some feedback would be appreciated

I also took an estimate of what Ryan Graves's salary might be next year... Think he would be an excellent defenseman on this team and would work well with Chatfield. I also think the Hurricanes would be a very good landing space for Alexis Lafrenière and would fit well in the Hurricanes system and he could be fully developed like we did for KK

We would just do 1 year to maximize our cap for 24-25. Also to ensure he is a fit in our system before committing to him with a big deal

Ohh for sure

Still matched. Not that OS ever happen other than a guy who seemed to be trying to sabotage MTL with that and his draft picks

💯 they do. Buying out Goodrow gives more cap space back than his cap hit over the next 2 years. People think a NTC is 💯 a lock but players just want some say in the decision(control). If it really came down to it there would be a trade. But Goodrow contract instantly gives 3.8M in space with a buyout. It would have to be 7M+ to have them walk away. Then Necas would be in jeopardy. Also, while people think it’s a 1M increase, it was supposed to be 4M not long before that and I suspect it’s will be a 2-3M increase in the end since nothing is official yet.

I mean Necas would probably be in the realm of a $7.5m. I wouldn't count on Goodrow being bought out of his contract since it seems like Laf and Kakko would more likely be the cap casualty than Goodrow.

Your GM isn't going to be dumb enough to match which will leave the team with about $6m in cap space with 5 roster spots he needs to fill if the contract is in the range that KK got

Well you would. Real GMs won’t. Not sure why they aren’t more aggressive like that but whatever.

I'm saying he's not going to be dumb enough to match a $4.5m/5 year deal because then they would probably have to dangle picks to fix your cap situation because of the contracts you gave Trouba and Trocheck

We did it for KK. I don’t see why we wouldn’t again. We have a ton on cap space with few needs and an adversity to spending big in FA.

In what world would you imagine THIS is a possibility, even if you're offering solid prospects to a divisional opponent, thinking it will be a successful trade?

Armchair or not, realism is a thing.

It wasn’t though, no matter how much the media pushes that story. We tried trading for him. Montreal asked for too much (jarvis). Add in why would we wait 6 weeks into the off-season to offer sheet someone if we were doing it for revenge from the get go?

Im not saying the O. S will happen but it doesn’t make much sense to offer a lot more than a late 1st and 3rd value when we have other options to get the same player.

Pipedream.. OS won’t happen. Not sure why 80% of people on here think there’s a valid chance. CAR literally put in a bonus that was AHOs number or what they offered him. Can’t recall the exact thing but it was a real thing that no GM would do if it wasn’t a statement.. but think what you want

The GM said himself that the bonus and quote was a marketing manager idea to have some fun with the offer

Teams trade in the division all of the time... I mean Max Domi has been traded inside of his division for two straight years at the trade deadline
