It isn't simplistic. I have been watching an absolute CRAP LOAD of draft eligibles this year. The caliber of players that will be available over that stretch have a marginal difference in skill, projection, and value. What we do with Murray after TOR pays us for the cap dump is none of their business. If it is as simple as just buying out the contract, they can do it themselves. But, if they want us to take it, they pay for it. As far as "fixating on our need for a stop-gap goalie", it is important because that is the incessant reason that TOR fans keep proposing this, saying "CHI needs a goalie, so it's a win win". When we DO NOT need a goalie. We also don't need to be helping teams out of their cap troubles for marginal gains. Especially a team whose 1st round pick we own in 2025.

Mrazek was a beneficial transaction for CHI, which added value to acquiring him, which lowered our need to bend Dubas over a barrell to take on the contract. Not to mention I think Kyle Davidson was trying to mend some fences after the public comments Dubas made about the "leaked trade negotiations".

Okay! I'm making a note right now to ask you after the draft whether you think that there's really little difference between the kids drafted at #28 and #51! cheers

I said "marginal difference". Also, Davidson should be able to use these same picks to make much better moves. So, as a last moment "last resort" kind of move, if they REALLY think they need to move up for a specific player for one reason or another, sure fine do it. But, I doubt anyone immediately or preemptively jumps at the opportunity to make this trade.

And one more thing, you can't ask me that after the draft. Because we won't know until years from now. But projections show A LOT of players with similar skill and upside to late first ranked players all the way through the 2nd round.
