VGK Takes Carrier, Sign Eaves

Description
This is a conservative estimate and I think Baptiste, Bailey and Fasching should get every opportunity to make the team out of camp but it looks like AHL seasoning is going to be a priority. It also looks like Vegas is taking Carrier and we're stuck with Bogosian. I would try do send some picks to get McPhee to take him, but he wouldn't and shouldn't. With Beaulieu and Antipin on board and Guhle in the pipeline, the Sabres need to be patient and see who can play. Signing Chris Lee, Antipin's partner in the KHL and SUNY Potsdam grad, makes a lot of sense. Let them sort out the NHL game together as a 3rd pair. I think Botterill will try and sign some vets this year with cap space to let the younger wingers learn to play in Rochester. Eaves seems like a good target that we can entice with a high one-year contract. If we're not in contention for a playoff spot, we can flip him at the deadline for a future asset. Sign Chris Mueller (Buffalo native) to help bring them along in Rochester. Mueller had a great year last year in Tucson putting young talent (Perlini, Fischer, Dauphin) in positions to work on their scoring touch from the wing. That's exactly what's needed in Rochester. We would resign Derek Grant for the same reason. With a few breaks, this team could make the playoffs in a weaker Atlantic division, but 18-19 and beyond is the goal now that we have a new coach and GM that can take their time and the Amerks would look like this:

Nylander-Mueller-Baptiste
Bailey-Rodriguez-Fasching (someone has to try and develop at LW)
Karabacek-Grant-CJ Smith
Dupuy-Malone-Cornel

Guhle-Nelson
Stephens-Fedun
Martin-Austin
Gorges

Johansson
Kasdorf

Should be a good AHL team. If we could convince Peterson to be the #1, even better.

Don't think Antipin is coming to Buffalo to play on the 3rd pairing. and Chris lee? Guhle not ready for the NHL would be a better option.

this team is how things will start next season, not end. AHL seasoning seems to be a major priority based on how pittsburgh did things. and lee and antipin might acclimate quickly and climb the ranks. as i said in the intro, adding lee would be a good, cheap, and low risk way to acclimate antipin to the NHL and allow guhle some time in Rochester on top pair and PK minutes. lee fit right in and played well for canada at the worlds, which felt like a legit tournament with a lot of high-end talent that it did not have in past years.
