2 3rds to trade a good middle 6 winger who puts up 50 points a season in a limited role????? He would literally be your 3rd best winger

Yep the situation the canucks are in they are forced to trade or buyout and no team is going to take on a 5m 3rd liner with that term

"Forced". What are you even talking about? Last time I checked, 3rd best winger is in the top 6

Canucks are over the cap for next year lol they have to move cap out. He is a 3rd liner on most teams

They are not over the cap. Do some basic research before making false claims... It literally takes like 10 seconds to find out that Pearson + Poolman on LTIR immediately frees up 5.75 mil in cap space. Don't make any more uneducated takes please

It's good to have depth. Jets could add a bit more offense. It's also a plus to have a player arrive with term in Winnipeg.

Points and analytics say otherwise. At worst he is your 4th best winger which is still top 6

And why exactly is he not worth a 3rd? He is hardly overpaid. He gets paid almost 5 mil, and puts up 50 points. Also pretty responsible defensively as he is known to be an analytical darling. Seems pretty fair to me

I like Keller as a player but I would rather keep either Boeser or Garland so that there is less cap committed on the wings, in both the hit and term. I like the Hayden addition though.

Jets are likely the last team to be trading picks. Garland isn't worth his contact it's simple as that. If he's so good keep him

Canucks should keep him. He is worth more to the team than in a trade. Tell me why is he not worth his contract? 50 points for 5 mil is pretty reasonable, especially when he is doing that playing with AHL callups for half the season

Now to get to the actual proposal. I'm personally hesitant to sacrifice the second third for him. Winnipeg needs more players who play a 200 foot game, and more right shot wingers. I'd counter with a 3rd and a b prospect. I like Garland

Because he is just very attractive with the term. He's hit 20 goals once in 2020 and over 30 assists once last year. He simply isn't consistent enough to warrant the contract for another 3 years. There's a reason he's in almost every Vancouver agm traded for Dillon, 3rd, whatever other deals with other teams. Just hold him and hope his value goes up but cap is also super valuable (Sean Monahan dumped for a 1st) so I feel like if covid didn't destroy the cap and was rising as normal it would be fine as the cap hit would shrink compared to the cap max. Flat cap Garland just is too expensive for most teams and the term can really affect long term plans

Garland does play a 200 foot game. He is very responsible defensively. Garland IS a right shot winger... Looks like Garland is exactly what Winnipeg needs...

He'll No! The jets are retooling/rebuilding and don't need to trade out more futures for a 3rd line guy. I'd much rather play Lambo in the nhl next year and keep the assets. Jets are a team that can't afford to trade more future picks and prospects

Sean Monahan is a terrible example. He is older, regressing, and dealing with multiple injuries. Garland has been pretty productive with his terrible linemates this year. Plays a 200 foot game. He was ranked one of the best value contracts last year. Not as productive this year, but he is still a very good player on a decent contract

Exactly if the jets weren't in the position they are in via Dubois and the ufa Armageddon. We can't trade futures for anyone when we could be going down those paths. The jets prospect system is good but isn't great by any stretch so keeping all these futures is priority 1 Ala no trading for garland

Bruh I'm not comparing them just the use of the cap space. If the jets keep the assets rather than paying for Garland we may he able to take on cap for more futures Ala Monahan. Genius I wasn't saying a comparison but not trading futures and getting futures for the same cap is major. Jets are not interested in Garland whatsoever

There is a difference between not worth a 3rd, and not worth a 3rd to the Jets. Just because the Jets don't need him at the moment, doesn't mean he is worthless to every team and the Canucks have to pay to dump him

Are they though? There was no indication in the end of the year pressers that they will be doing any of that. Granted this is a front office that keeps things close to the chest, but everything points to changing the core, and not rebuilding. Lambert will be best in the A next year, and in a Jets uni in 2024-25
