The Buffalo trade

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 21, 2023
Published: May 21, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I hope I’m not barking up the wrong team with this one. Raddysh seems like he would fit well on a line with Tage and IMO Murphy is the Defensive D they really need. I targeted Olofsson because I don’t think Buffalo really needs him exactly, and Peterka because of the German connection with Reichel.

Buffalo could use Murphy, but Raddysh is not that useful. You could argue that not only is Buffalo’s top six forwards essentially locked, the top nine pretty much are. Maybe he could be a good energy guy playing with Jost and Greenway, otherwise he’s probably more useful to Chicago.

Since all of that is true, Murphy is the only piece Buffalo actually would want. Next year’s first round pick and Olofsson is more than enough to get him.

That trade is not good for BUF. Swapping JJP for Raddysh defeats the purpose of valuing the affordability of Raddysh, and BUF doesn't need the affordability to begin with. JJP is a very valuable young player. But, I could take or leave Olofsson. He is worth almost nothing to CHI, IMO. However, BUF does value him.

Greenway makes Raddysh not needed and including Peterka just kills that deal anyway. I like Murphy and would do a deal for him.

Man if you think Murphy is worth that you are in for a tough time.

He’s worth a 2nd and a decent prospect

I still like olofsson, but it's time to move on. Our top 6 is pretty well set, and we do not have a 200 foot playmaking center to bring out the best in olofsson on a third line. Plus the fans here have absolutely turned on him, it's kinda ironic that any winger gets this much grief for his defense, let alone on a team with Jeff Skinner. But, I digress, he's a scapegoat here now, he could do well in the right spot, and I don't expect any kind of major return for him, the winger market for non-stars is pretty soft, and he's basically a rental (although if he plays well, I would think he would resign with the team that acquired him).

That would be an overpay for Murphy, and the VAN fans on here seem pretty adamant that the team does not need to give up assets to unload Myers. He seems like a good buyout candidate or VAN just puts up with his contract for one more year.

Yeah. I figured some of the people attempting to fetch a high price for Olofsson were just bluffing. BUF could fairly easily replace his production, even if it takes some time, one of their prospects or young roster players should be able to step into that role and probably even improve upon it. It is certainly possible he could go somewhere and look like a star if he is put on a line with the right people, though. Then everyone will say they never should've traded him. haha. Thats just the name of the game, though. A lot of people ignore things link chemistry, play style and role, when making post trade evaluations. Plus, at his age, he probably wants to find the best fit and some stability and to have a chance to win, and I'd say he is good enough to warrant such demands. Just probably not good or unique enough to be worth a whole lot on the trade market.

Yeah. Even with max retention, this is probably too much. JJP's ceiling is just that high. It's too early for BUF to move on at such a valuation. I'm sure CHI could make the value work by maybe including the TBL pick or even the BOS pick, if they can get their hands on it, but even then I think JJP is probably untouchable. They'll want to see one more full season from him AT THE VERY least, before they make an decisions like this.

Agree with all that. Sabres are so loaded on good forward prospects it's crazy, but that doesn't mean they're trading one away before they fully know what they've got. Sabres will stay the course, as will the hawks trying to build up a group comparable to the sabres some day

Sabres trade is LAUGHABLE dude
1- we have no use for Raddysh
2- the 5th round pick has little to no value
3- we aren’t gonna overpay for Murphy
4- Peterka is very unlikely to get moved

We are loaded with young forward talent,
so 1st thing you’d have to do is take Raddysh outta the deal,
as we’d just have no interest at all

Maybe we’d give you a 2nd & Olofsson for Murphy & a 3rd
But something like that is gonna be the absolute most i could see us giving
You’re just asking way too much
