Can’t see the avs giving up essentially two first round picks for debrusk. Everyone can see Boston will be relatively tight for cap, so that could hamper the returns

What if bruins were to retain to debrusk to 2.5-3 mill. That frees up more cap to allow for Colorado to make another move to fill landeskogs absence. Lauko will be a cheap contract and will be a solid bottom 6 hustler for them

Pens would be better off offer sheeting Swayman than make that trade. Wishful thinking for one year of DeBrusk.
Don't think you understand "RFA" if you think the Bruins get Koskin for that little.

Still not going to happen, he’s got a year left on his deal.

Wingers that aren’t 1st liners don’t fetch those kind of packages, just look last year Bjorkstrand and Pacciorety basically given away.

Essentially two late 1sts. Also, Bruins can easily find a fair return for DeBrusk, it's one of their Ds or Hall that would return less.

That's the point, DeBrusk can take Landeskog's spot in the top6 and Avs can re-sign him. He fits in their timeline too.

If COL is trading their first and a recent 1st rd pick it isn’t for a 2nd line winger and depth guy. In fact no team in the off season is doing that. Winger is without a doubt the least valuable position in the off season.

E. Kane (rental) a 1st in 2018. Tatar in 2018 as well. Zucker in 2020. Mantha in 2021. Hagel last year. Bertuzzi this season. Columbus and Vegas were over the cap. Bruins aren't in that position and they can trade few players before DeBrusk.

Could lower the return here but a (late) 1st is not impossible.

Trading Debrusk and keeping Hall makes no sense, Debrusk is the better player at this point.

You answered yourself. Trading DeBrusk now makes sense because he has more value and his contract expires next season. Unlike the 3 LDs and Hall, he should get a fair return. Hall would return less due to his drop in production while playing on the 3rd line/2nd PP unit and his higher cap hit when the Bruins need cap space. Keep Hall, play him with Pastrnak, get his value back up and then trade him.

2/8 years they add additional cap over the cap hit. 5/6 years is 1.1M which is nothing to pay. Year 4 which they have a 3.6M cap hit is the only bad one and it’s 4 years out which the cap will be in the 95M range by then. Goodrow is also very serviceable and under utilized in NY

I'd rather just extend Debrusk, he fits the McAvoy/Pasta timeline.

Hagel not a rental and trade deadline, E Kane trade deadline, Tatar trade deadline had term left, Mantha trade deadline, Zucker trade deadline. Nobody is paying that price in the off season. There are options for COL not giving up a single asset and DeBrusk doesn’t play center. You would have to make the price like Bjorkstrand for COL to consider.

Hagel was traded at the deadline and his value was inflated because of how low his contract was and that it had term. I thought I put in the off season in my comment but I didn’t my bad.

So you'd rather trade for 2-4 months of a player over a full season? Colorado could stick with Rantanen as C or give another shot to Newhook. Bjorkstrand did have 3 more years on a backloaded contract.

Agree to disagree. He's gonna be in 30s when they *could* be a Cup contender again and isn't a top player unlike those two.

Rantanen is not a center why move an elite winger to center where he very obviously isn’t fully comfortable. No you miss my point. Off season acquisition of wingers is significantly cheaper than at the dead line and DeBrusk isn’t worth the proposed trade, Regardless I think they sign someone to play 2C like ROR and give some like Drouin a prove it deal keeping all their resources for a deadline move if needed.
