Two project prospects and a grab bag of mid round picks, why is Anaheim going to have interest in that?

We will also outbid you for Dumba.

No, thank you. How are we going to turn that mess of pottage into anything that lasts the next four seasons?

I live Gibby but he isn't worth that. He is a reclamation project and I'm nit sure he will get more than a 2nd and 3rd. Which is why Ana will be stubborn and keep him.

Ana isn't going to take that but (like another of my favorite teams) they need to bite the bullet and trade a vet who isn't cutting it for them. Gibson needs to get moved and the return won't be great. But keeping him is the definition of madness.

None of these additions are going to really move the needle all that much.
No interest in Gibson, Brown, or Dumba.

I'd be fine with Brown, but no thank you to the rest.

Gibson is a gamble and not one the Pens should take.

Explain how Gibson isn't cutting it for us in your opinion?

The only real reason ANA would be fine with that is a clean slate and freeing up space. This is a horrible trade for the Pens and not because of the parts leaving, but because Gibson is now a major gamble.

You really need someone to explain how Gibson has been a subpar goalie the last few years?

He plays great for the 1st half then gives up / falls apart. He hasn't had a positive WAR or Goals Saved Above Expected for a full season since 2018.

He is great if you give him something but Ana keeps making him play for a non-contender. I think he is trying to hold the whole team up on his own and it is crushing him.

He needs a change of scenery and some kind of defense. I'm continually sad at his situation.

He won't bring back what he should but staying in Ana will also be for not.

For better or worse, he likes it here in Southern California, and while its easy to see he yearns for the playoffs and is frustrated by the team in front of him, he is also still the best goalie we have. Verbeek sat down with him at the TDL and let him know where things were in the rebuild, I assume he also spoke to him about this offseason plans, as I assume he is planning to get some serious help on defense. If Gibson wanted out, Verbeek wouldn't have flatly denied considering moving him.

Zegras is off his ELC, Terry is also due for his big contract, McTavish is two years away from his next deal, and we need to start building a winning atmosphere here, getting weaker at the back end isn't the way to do so. Yeah, we're not a contender next year, best case scenario if we are very smart this offseason we are in the hunt for the last wildcard spot, but we can't bottom out again next year.

I just don't see them as a real contender for at least 2 years. If it is 3 years, then Gibson has wasted his prime years for a team that isn't winning and is on the last year of his deal.

Trade him now for a few picks and find a new goalie. There is no place worse than middle of the pack.

Dude, you shouldn't have to explain this. If Gibson is in a mental rut from playing on a team going nowhere, then let him prove it somewhere else. He's clearly been a mediocre goalie for a while now.

I agree but I don't mind explaining it. I am a fan of Ana too.

Buying out Petry just replace him with Dumba - who you're essentially paying 7mil now - is a very bad move imo.

You aren't giving up much in the Gibson trade at least - but I still really don't think they should be giving up anything for Gibson. You can get guys like Jarry/Anderson/Varlamov, etc for cheaper and keep your assets.
