Avalanche 23-24

Description
Contract projections from DNVR/DailyFaceoff for most of these. Little bit of a crunch capwise going into next summer. Maybe we get a bigger bump that I'm expecting, but Manson's NTC expires next summer - He would be the guy I move on from if Toews takes a team friendly deal.

Byram -> Ballparked high from DNVR discussion on what a bridge might look like.
Newhook -> Same, expecting a 2 yr bridge in the 2.1-2.5 range.
Meyers -> I like what he showed this season and would love to see him get the LOC contract.
Malgin -> 1 year prove it deal to see if his 20 goal pace was legit. If not, we have Foudy/Olausson waiting in the AHL with 3rd line potential.
ERod - 3x3.7 from DailyFaceoff. Want him back in a middle 6 role at anything under 3x4.
ROR - 3x5.5 from DailyFaceoff. Good answer for this team at 2C that wont cost draft capital/prospects. Can slide to a more defensive oriented 3rd line when/if Newhook is ready for 2C and gives us a solid faceoff guy (even though Avs don't really worry about faceoffs).
Cogs -> Similar contract to last year. Good glue guy and perfect fit for 3rd/4th line
De Haan -> Good cheap 3rd pair D. Could always go a different route (One of the Johnson's/Hunt) Or reshuffle the pairs and give Malinski a shot this season.
Pavel - Good/versatile 4th line fit on an ELC. This spot could rotate around AHL guys to give them a chance to earn a spot with the club long term.

Really hoping ERod doesn't cost nearly that much, but I'm worried you're in the ballpark on Newhook, which is more than I'd like to pay without knowing what he'll be. Hate to say it, but it's probably time to move on from Cogs. I didn't think much of Meyers, but he's worth that amount. Don't know if this is much of a step up from this season unless the bottom 6 make a major improvement.

I'm expecting a breakout year from Meyers so to speak - would even consider giving him a chance on the 3rd line. His underlying analytics were so much better than the actual on ice numbers. If he finds a way to start converting his chances into goals, then he is in for a big year (15+ goals). If he doesn't, then maybe he is just another LOC that helps you keep the ice tilted toward the offensive zone but lacks finishing ability. In either case I'm comfortable giving him the same contract as LOC and hoping it becomes a huge bargain over the next 3 years.

Newhook IMO just needs stability. He was at his best between Cogs and LOC. At his age, this contract is reasonable and gives him a chance to overperform if he gets some consistency around him.

Biggest thing for me is that the Avs won the central with 450 man games lost. I'm good with running it back and hoping for better health and offensive improvements from a couple guys (Newhook and Meyers). And ROR is a big upgrade over JTC at 2C. Would expect this team to win the west with a reasonable number of man-games lost (~300 considering Landy is going to miss 82).
