I was thinking Marner would help carry the 2nd line. The 1st line was so good but Marner and Norris together could be amazing and Marner could feed Norris for goals

Yup, doesn't change my opinion. I also don't think it's a good deal for Ottawa since you're not sure about Marner resigning. In the end I think the value is wrong because of Debrincats next contract but don't think it's a move either team should be making.

As a Leaf fan, I think it's a good deal for the Leafs. Batherson is good and has nice three years lefts on his 5m contract. Gee, that's a 6m cap the Leafs have to spend elsewhere. Even if the Leafs don't have the cap for DeBrincat, they might get modest return in a trade.

This is a wild interesting idea.

With the emergence of Sanderson and the addition of Chych a Chabot/Cat->Marner+ would be super interesting

Hell no Marner sucks in the playoffs. I bet Batherson can create a bigger impact than Marner come playoff time.
