Wild First Line Shakeup

Created by: Wsamuelson
Team: 2023-24 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 24, 2023
Published: May 24, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is extremely unlikely as the wild are expected to be quiet this offseason. Even with the dead cap charges I do think they can be creative but they would have a lot of moving parts. This was my first season watching hockey and now I’m addicted. Let me know what you think.

Lindholm is gonna be expensive. At a price likely deemed too high to pay for him, but at the same time I can’t blame Calgary because he’s their number 1 center. Welcome to the sport.

Why not offer up even a modest level of feedback?

Starts with Boldy, multiple 1sts, retention alone costs X....even just a little bit of actual suggestion or direction can go along way, especially for someone that's stating they're new to the sport, new to CF and has never posted before.

That trade suggests that the Flames are essentially going into a rebuild. I doubt they would be able to use those assets to get a 1st line C. The Flames are far more likely to be looking for either a 1st line center back for Lindholm like PLD, or a solid addition to their top line. The Flames new GM(Conroy) said that he will change the core, but there's no talk of a rebuild, and they're trying to add another forward to the top 6.

A similar trade might be something the Flames explore at the deadline if they fall out of the playoffs, and Lindholm is not yet signed. That's when he'll go to the highest bidder, and I believe it will be a bigger package.

Google Bo Horvat. Add to that. It will cost more than Bo Horvat to get Lindholm.

There ya go, that's a little better! At least there's a crumb of useful info there.

The Lindholm deal wouldnt work for the flames if solely because trading him would mean they would have no top line center, which would mean they would need to rebuild and move more pieces. It's possible, but they have never rebuilt in the cap era and have this been a mediocre team because of it. Lindholm is the best top line center they have had in 20+ years so rebuilding would mean a pick and a blue chip center prospect at minimum. The demand is always there for top line center.

Kudos for switching to hockey. It's the greatest sport on the planet, apart from nude yard Olympics, which is, sadly, not televised and exclusive to sorority houses.

That lame offer doesn't get Elias Lindholm.

Not giving up a 2nd for Addison, Detroit is already linked to Tyson Barire for a 4th round pick.
