I don't think the Hawks are trading draft capital for a player who's underperformed expectations. I like Yamamoto but I think the Hawks would prefer to use that pick to move up in the draft or trade for a younger player with more control. Edmonton is in the same boat Chicago was in when they let Strome go. His cap hit was on the verge of making him a negative asset. That's why he wasn't dealt at last year's deadline.

Isles would just offer Mayfield more and not trade for Ceci.

ya that is a very fair point. Yamo is a very weird guy caught between being a decent top 9 player. But makes a bit too much money and there is about 50 other players exactly like Yamo out there in the league.

I think a team would take a chance on him for a third or a fourth round pick, but yes I agree Chicago might be better off keeping their draft pick and sticking with their original plan
