Let’s not be so quick. I would take hertl, especially for that deal. Hertl’s deal, unlike Miller’s, will be movable in its last year. He will have a 15 team trade list his last year and only 3.75 million of real money after bonus. I think he will hold up until 35 to be valuable.

SJ fans were certain last off-season that Hertl wasn’t being moved. Has something changed?

maybe but he fits the canes needs to a T. big body guy, plays a good 2 way game, strong in the circle and will score. he would be an excellent 2C to take some pressure off the Aho. plus we have Burns to get all the intel about him. I havent heard anything negative about hertl so I am assume he would be quite an addition in the locker room as well.

@csick something changed on the Hertl front that I am not aware of?

Also to make cap work, I would do this year's first, Turbo, honka and rees. They could eat half of Turbo at the deadline and likely get a decent pick out of him too.

No I just don’t see how it makes sense to keep him. They won’t be competitive till he’s like 34

If we can get him for a reasonable term then on second thought I'd love to have on the Hurricanes

The Sharks got a new GM who has kickstarted the rebuild. Hertl would need to waive his NMC, but he might for a contender like Carolina.
