This Hawk fan says yes....I think. I maybe ask to take the 4th out. Broberg was a reach and probably has diminished a little since being drafted relative to his draft position. A little better injury luck and a change of scenery could be the ticket to him blossoming where I think he still has an enticing ceiling. I would be asking for Bourgault or Holloway instead as the Hawks REALLY don't need more LHD prospect options (but you can always trade another one off) A first is a first and you are not saying no to that ever. Ceci is a downgrade to Murphy, but still a competent middle pairing vet and you are off his deal in 2 years. Yama for free (which is my own take on this trade) is probably an upgrade over whatever dumpster dive UFA you sign instead.

CHI would have to like Broberg quite a bit to add another LHD. We have so many in our pipeline. I don't consider Ceci to be worth much of anything, at least not to CHI. Same with Yamo honestly. And I'd be willing to bet that 1st is very late. So, it would essentially be a late 2024 1st for Murphy, Broberg for Raddysh, and taking back Ceci and Yamo to make the cap work... Debating whether Ceci and/or Yamo are "cap dumps" would be a whole other conversation. But, I think CHI would consider them to strictly be cap out for EDM and not be a part of CHI's future, which means they would probably want to be compensated for taking them. I think it has the beginnings of a successful trade, but negotiations are incomplete. haha

Seems we have mostly the same thoughts here. Broberg's upside from the Hawk's viewpoint is the key on if there is a deal to be made here. Way easier if it is Bourgault or Holloway as the prospect piece as it fits the Hawk prospect pool better. Again no reason you can't trade off one or two of the other LHD prospects and try to turn them into forward prospects or picks.

Ceci I don't mind for a couple years if you are moving out Murphy. Certainly not anything you view as a value or reason to do the trade, but not a reason I don't either. Yama is probably better than what we get as a UFA in the leftover bin and your commitment is a year and you can not qualify him if he is a disaster. If he fits in, you have RFA rights and he is young enough to be around for several years

Agreed. But, that also is what makes me hesitate. I think there are deals to be made out there that could benefit CHI more than this. Doing this takes up the roster spots that would be needed in order to make those other more beneficial moves, unless there are buyouts, waivers, or other trades involved, of course. It also creates redundancies. A good forward prospect like Holloway or Bourgault would definitely go a long way in meeting CHI's needs more closely.

Edmonton declines. That's a massive overpay for Murphy, who likely wouldn't be a good partner for Nurse due to weak rush defense / poor zone entry denial.

Out of curiosity, whats your take on Broberg? From the outside seems as though he's not quite gone the way expected. Too soon to give up on him yes but do you feel there would be a scenario where you use him to dump some cap and gain some draft capital in the process?

I don't see it, personally. Holland really likes him, so much that he refused to include him in a potential Chychrun trade. And Broberg has been very good in limited minutes so far.
