Philly is probably looking for more of a futures package.

And the Canes can still do it.

I’m sure they like the picks. I’d swap out TT and Drury for a good young prospect.

Travis is probably a good fit for the Canes. Top 6, young and the Canes have a need and room.

I want futures for sure but if you get 1st 2023, Drury, Necas you take that deal 100%. Teuvo is too old for a rebuild.

Do the Canes pull back then? I think if it’s Necas over Teuvo that changes things a lot for CAR’s perspective.

Don't like the Compher signing. That 50 point production isn't sustainable. He's 28 and finally got a 50 point season when playing with MacKinnon and Rantanen... would rather not

Gavrikov is pointless. Skjei had 18 goals this year. Gavrikov is fine, but he's a 3rd pairing D man in Carolina.

Probably a little much for TK. Unsustainable shooting percentage for TK has me concerned about him long term. If it was a 1st and Drury, I'd be more open. Teuvo really shouldn't be on the table here

It might just be me, but I don't think that Konecny in an upgrade over Teräväinen. Teräväinen is better defensively and is a huge part of CAR's hard working, checking game. Konecny did have more points last season, but next season they could have similar production.

Not a Canes fan so I can’t answer for them but if that changes it and Necas can’t be in the deal then it would have to be 2nd + a bit more

I’m biased as a Flyers fan but TK is 3 years younger. Makes $100k more but Flyers can also retain. Is definitely more of a goal scorer. I’m gonna assume you don’t watch the Flyers cause TK is one of the hardest working players there is and is definitely decent defensively, enough for Torts to trust him on the PK this year. TK is 100% the better player by far. Whether the acquisition price is worth is a different story but TK is better in almost all aspects in comparison. His price might just not be worth to actually acquire him.

For sure but I don’t think the Canes would include Necas. Is he not just as good as Konecny?

See I think Compher would be an excellent fit in CAR and would take the load off KK being 2C. Also, Compher would play in a top 6 similar to the skill level of that of the Avs. Svech, Jarvis, Konecny could all be possibilities on his line and in that case I think he’s a sure fire 50 point center in their system. Though I can understand where you’re coming from 100%

Yea I first had Harrington on 3D but had all that extra cap space and figured why not spend some of it to buff up the D. Guess best case would be to re-sign Ghost over that Gavrikov signing or keep Harrington at 3D and save the cap for all the CAR extensions that are due next year.

As for the TK trade, I think PHI would want minimum ‘23 first, Drury or other similar skilled prospect, Necas/Teuvo (probably Necas though) which in that case I think CAR pulls back a bit. If I’m CAR the difference maker to me is Teuvo or Necas.

I have no idea lmao I only watch a dozen or so Carolina games a year so a Carolina fan would have to answer that if he’s that good. All I know is their scoring dried up in the playoffs and if Necas isn’t involved it would have to be 2023 1st, Drury, +++ because the 1st is late so they would have to add a bunch more to that deal to make it worth it

I grant you that TK is more of a scorer. I also think that TK takes a lot more penalties. They have a similar production in their career, and their age doesn't make much of a difference next season (26 vs. 28). Age will be a factor if the Canes manage to resign TK, but that's a big if. I didn't say TK was bad defensively, just that in my opinion Teräväinen was better. I also think that last season makes it a sell low on Teräväinen and sell high on TK kind of scenario.

The biggest upside for the Canes is that he's signed for 1 more season(which I admittedly overlooked) than Teräväinen. If the Flyers can retain salary then that's a different discussion, and I could see Carolina going for it.

Kotkaniemi excelled at 2C. There's no need for a new 2C, Kotkaniemi has more than proven he can perform there and hold the defensive structure of a line, allowing his linemates to run riot offensively. As you can tell, his linemates for most of the season were Necas and Svechnikov. When he was swapped with Stastny, both Svechnikov and Necas struggled. Compher looks like his production is about to nose dive after a career year. Evan Rodrigues vibes.

If you're going to invest that kind of money in a 3LD, that's fine, but it should be someone like Graves who can just take Skjei's place on the second pairing when Skjei's contract is up next summer.

Necas outproduced Konecny, Philadelphia would be adding for the younger, cheaper winger. As for Teuvo, that shouldn't be a starting point. The idea is to add another top six winger, not spin the wheels some more. Konecny shot at 15% this season, way above his career average. His production this year is not sustainable. That combined with the long injury history he's already got should be a major warning flag. to not move roster pieces. Clayton Keller is a much better fit if you're going to go down that route

Yes... he's from the 2018 draft... he also became the first rookie to be over a point per game in the AHL playoffs since the NHL lockout... he's a good prospect. He's still too unproven at the NHL level to be considered anything else. This isn't like he's 26, 23 isn't old.

It’s not even an “if” for me tbh. I expect them to retain on TK so they can get a better package back him. I expect the same for Hayes and potentially Provy or DeAngelo if they are moved. It makes 100% sense to retain on TK to get more back

What happened to Provy this year? Seemed to lack foot speed. Might be a good buy low candidate for someone.
