Description
I'm a Caps fan taking a look at this. I think Kuz to SEA makes a ton of sense. They desperately need the skill and have the cap space ($3.3M to sign 1-4 depth players). Kuz would be a perfect stop gap for Wright to come along. McCann (a speedy shooter) and Bjorkstrand (speedy high end 2 way player) would be a match made in heaven for Kuz. Can also switch Gourde and Bjorkstrand. That line would thrive. He's averaged 71 points per 82 games the last 8 seasons so I could easily see Kuz hit 70+ points, maybe 80. A classic win-win for each team.

I don't know, I just don't see a fit for Seattle since I think they'd be more likely to have McCann go back to center and upgrade on the wing. Maybe with some retention, but Beniers's upcoming deal probably makes this less viable since I believe they want to keep Wennberg.

Kuznetsov is likely of little interest to Francis and the Kraken. Francis didn't trade any top draft picks to improve for the playoffs. I doubt he has plans on doing so in the off-season. In fact, thus far he's never traded anything higher than a 4th rounder to improve his team. Results are good so far!

Also . . . not 100% sure, but in his time as GM (both Carolina and now Seattle) I don't believe Ron Francis has much of a history drafting Russian players, be it Entry OR Expansion Draft. So, coupled with what looks to be an "aversion" to Russian players along with some of the many flaws to Kuzy's game and character observed over the years, I see that deal as a likely pass.
