The leafs would have to retain salary for that to work with the Wild, they dont have the room for big moves like that, but if we wanted the Leafs to retain I wouldn’t mind giving up a little more

Liljegren who is starting RHD is worth a lot more than Fischer. Besides shouldn't the Leafs be have seven Dmen on their roster? Klingberg isn't worth 6m.
Leafs lose big time on that Winnipeg trade . Matthews is worth a lot more than a second line centre PLD. You can argue that Samsonov had just a good season as Hellebuyck and Samsonov is cheaper and has more years of control.

A Hellebuyck trade would start a rebuild. There is no need to trade him for a pending UFA when they can just send Helle to a contender and start the rebuild without having to flip Matthews.

What do the leafs want in a 5'9" 3rd line center? This team is undersized and lack the grit to go anywhere in the division. Buffalo is a up coming team and forward group is huge. The leafs d-men can't move anyone from in front of the net( except McCabe) so the PK will be brutal.

I gotta think the Jets are in a rebuild mode with so many "quality" UFA becoming available in the summer of 2024. Jets best "hope" for Helly is that some contender has a goalie injury to they starter, and Helly can be traded to team that really needs him for a good return.

Jets would be better off to trade Helle and Duchois separately.

er
Why is it that the Leafs Dmen always get blamed for the Leafs playoff failures. Fact is it was the core four didn't score nearly enough against Florida. McCabe? He was absolutely brutal against Florida, bad pinches and giveaways and couldn't cover anyone in the defensive zone. " Lack grit " 16 teams that never made the playoff musta have "less grit", the 8 team that lost in round one...."less grit".

Only way WPG does this is if Matthews wants to sign long term with WPG. I don't see him wanting to do that, so it won't happen.

Minnesota doesn't even begin to consider this deal! A top C prospect and our current 1c for a winger they really have zero need for long term?
