Initial Creation Date: May 26, 2023
Published: May 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Strong rocket team this year... prospect and Rookies like Slaf, Barron, Ylonen, Xhekaj and Farrel will all start in the AHL.

I'm expecting KH to use the cap space to obtain vets on expiring contracts as cap dumps to fill-up the line-up for picks. Or at least trade a cap dump for another cap dump, but in a desired position.

-Maybe Tyler Myers or Poolman

The target this season: Top 5 pick and the calder cup.

Dcore in the AHL:

Ghule - Barron
Xhekaj - Mailloux
Schuneman - Trudeau

kinda hot

Slaf, Roy, Farrell, Heineman, Simoneau, Kidney and Richard are gonna be studs - We'll probably re-sign or sign a few C AHL vets to support the kids.

I am a firm believer in Mantha returning to form with a new coach, but I have a hard time seeing Washington declining this if they plan on acquiring someone like Debrincat. I think Kuznetsov is likely out the door before Mantha though.

The view on Myers is essentially; His bonus is paid Sep 1st, meaning he'll only be owed $1mil in actual salary afterwards. He essentially becomes asset positive at this point, particularly for teams trying to reach the cap floor.
Granted majority of teams will have already sorted their D core at this point, but the longer the Canucks hold Myers, the more his value increases.
By the time the deadline rolls around, it wouldn't be surprising to see him net a 3rd or even 2nd rounder, with retention.

A huge, puck moving, veteran right defenseman with lots of playoff experience at a $3mil cap hit will likely be sought after, especially as teams start entering significant LTIR levels

Execpt this is not what Tyler Myers is. He is 6'8 but plays like he is 5'8. A puck moving defenseman who hasnt manage to get more than 21 points during a season in Vancouver. A turnover machine who seemingly can't figure out how to stay out of the box. A veteran with ''lots'' of playoff experience, with 36 playoffs games in the last 10 years, accounting for 8 points during that span (0 in last 16).

No matther how you look at Tyler Myers, there isnt a positive thing about this guy as a hockey player, and even at 3mil, he has negative value.

Wooow!!!! Good job proving your point! You made one hell of an argument to prove how good he is. I sure believe you now halo halo

In all seriousness no reason to way this long, he'll be a cap dumb in a few weeks.

Meh Mantha has a year left and can contribute. He'll be this year's Monahan.

Canucks decline. If we move Myers, it will be with a mid round pick after his bonus is paid. He’ll only be owed $1 mil in salary but have a $6 mil cap hit, which can help a team like Anaheim reach the floor without spending actual money. Fans of both Vancouver and Anaheim seem to be in agreement on a deal of either Myers + 4th for FC’s or Myers + 3rd for a 5th/6th. Canucks certainly won’t take back Hoffman in a deal for Myers. We already have too many expensive wingers, Hoffman would be a $4 million dollar 4th liner in Vancouver at best, maybe even a healthy scratch. We don’t have the cap space to afford that, as we would need to use Myers’ money to get a replacement RHD if we move him.
remowilliams liked this.
