The Hurricanes aren't going to give up both Morrow and Nikishin, especially for a guy in his late 20s. Maybe instead of Nikishin and Morrow you add some more draft picks and Jamieson Rees, Noel Gunler, Anttoni Honka, and/or Alexander Pashin

The Minnesota trade doesn't make sense, particularly if your plan is to scratch Dewar and have Mark Friedman in your top six.

My thinking was that PIT would want either a young NHL player or prospects that would be ready sooner rather than picks, but by all means, give me an idea for a counter from CAR…

Something along the lines of

TO Pit:
2023 First Rounder
2023 Secound Rounder
2023 Third Rounder
Alexander Pashin
Justin Robidas
Jackson Blake

TO Car:
Jake Guentzel

Gotta look up those prospects but at least there is some value with picks 👍

Detroit passes as well, they choose the 20g scorer over a 12th LHD.

Pettersson was our #1 LHD and at worst he’s a solid #3 on any team… stats back that up…

Guentzel will be staying in Pittsburgh for another year if that is asking price for him.

Personally, I wouldn’t pay much for Guentzel. Just my personal opinion, not exactly that big on him. Most I would offer is 23 first, Turbo, and Heimosalmi.

Thats great. We don't need any left defense unless they're a superstar. We have a million guys that play on the left side already and a desperate lack of guys who score

canes pass and no chance we extend Guentzel. He will be 29 at his new contract and get him a really nice 8 year big money deal. That isnt carolina's MO. We dont pay big money for dudes 34-37 years of age.

Between the AHL and the NHL Detroit has 11 LHDs!!!!! and they have 3 players that put up 20 or more goals last season Kubalik being one of them. If Yzerman plays Chiarot on the right side then Pettersson would be in the 3rd pair. But with Edvinsson and Johansson are at the point where they will be seeing a lot of time in that 3rd pair. So realistically by playing Pettersson it would hinder Edvinsson and Johansson development. Detroit needs the 20 goals a lot more than they need Pettersson.

Not at that price. Nikishin was untouchable for Meier, for a rental Guentzel, forget it. Morrow... is probably off limits too. Carolina don't like paying big prices for rentals. He's worth Morrow so please do not get it confused as to why I'm saying Canes reject. But the organization wants prolonged success. Best way to do that is to draft well and keep the support flowing into the roster.

Guentzel isn’t Gretzky. Remove those 2 prospects. Add 1 lesser prospect and you are probably in the ball park.

Boston declines. Swap Gauthier for Pickering we can talk. Don’t need a goalie coming back.

Can not understand the posters on here thinking Wings need LHD. We just traded a RHD and we have no NHL ready RHD defensemen, so let's trade a 20 goal scorer for another LHD. We have Evidsson, just signed Maata and we have Wallman and Charoit, why in the hell do we need another LHD. Plus we have Wallander and Johansson in Grand Rapids.

Boggles my mind
