You're not going to get Laffy for 2.4MM. Another team could offer sheet him 4.2 / 2 and NY would have to match.

Offer Sheets are a rarity. Cap Space around the League is scarce. On top of the fact that he hasn't really shown enough to warrant that deal.

Outside of Kotkaniemi, there have been a couple dozen players over the years that were rumored to get an OS. And year after year, they never happen.

Not concerned at all. Perhaps a little more if it were Miller. But not Lafreniere, at this stage.

You are correct they are rare but it only takes 1 GM to stir the pot.

Comes down to owners, not GM's. Molson was spanked for his offersheet by Dundon & owners. The only one in ten years. The won't happen. Chytil & Kakko magically signed @ 2x 2.3/2.1m, same with Laf.

You are correct. It is rare. It is a shame though, since it robs the players of money and is essentially collusion.

Still, it can happen and I predict it will start to happen more in the future.

Capped out league already. The last thing the owners want is to lose control of rfa salaries as well. Imagine every TD&H like Laf, who is worth 2.5m, gets a 1x6m bridge deal lol, or 4x 5m. That's not it their cards

Why, in your opinion, is Laf worth 2.5MM? He played well and compares well to guys who are paid 4-5MM per.

Very inconsistent thus far. And coming off his ELC, he hasn't done enough to merit that quick of a pay jump.

I see. I haven't watched him but his overall numbers are pretty good. He compares favorably to Barbashev and Hall, both guys who will make in the 4-6MM area next year.
