Yeah, I'm definitely not a fan. If we have to give up that much in the way of assets to Detroit just to get the cap space to make this work, it's not worth it. It's jamming a square peg into a round hole just because you like squares.
And I don't really think the cap works with this roster anyway. I think both Soucy and Mayfield will get more, and I don't really like that as the RD depth anyway. Soucy is left handed and I don't really like playing defensemen on their off side regularly, and I wouldn't really trust either of them as RD1 if Letang were out for a while.
We're putting all our eggs in one basket here. Center depth is absurd, but I'm hard pressed to consider anything else noticibly better for all our troubles.

That Wings trade is awful. Please research a bit before making these. Walman was playing top pair for most of the season, and Kuby is a 20 goal guy in his sleep. Not moving 2 good players for a handful of trash.

We're not trading Walman after extending him for 3 years, And we're not retaining on Kubalik when we're already taking on far more cap then giving up.
