You could probably get more for #14

Also I probably take that Detroit deal. With the retention it makes it plausible.

Can we please stop with the Petry to Detroit trades, furthermore he has value, we don't pay for him with the 14th overall. No need for Tarasanko, Nylander will be a fine fit on the second line. And I don't know my feelings about the Calgary trade.

I don't see the reason to add DOC in the Jake trade, especially if the goal is to get younger. We need more DOC's in our lineup.

True but CGY will need someone to replace Dube and Dube is young as well

I like this, although I’m pretty sure if we buy out Carter in his final year we don’t get any cap relief? So at that point would be better off the scratch him and use him when needed?

correct but i want him gone in general. they will always play him and the drama around him was annoying. just get him away

I do too, but the drama was in the fan base. Not on the team. I feel a buyout just handicaps us more than health bombing him

If we move Jake, we're selling. Simple as that. We cannot replace Jake's production and impact as easily as we can find someone who can do what Hanifin does. Tarasenko and Barbashev do not make up for the loss of Zucker and Guentzel at all. Not a fan of that 2nd line regardless, considering Malkin might be the best defensively on that line.

Petry has positive value and I'm tired of pretending he doesn't. I do not think Mayfield or Durzi can handle 1RHD responsibilities if Letang is out for a while. Petry did for a time.

I think the goalie duo is too old and injury prone to be the duo for a competitor. Jarry has one year with injury issues and all of a sudden we'd rather start a goalie 5ish years older with a long history of injuries, and then have an even older backup? I'd rather take my chances with Jars.

Wings would do that. The retention makes the difference.

I don't mind that for the Flames. Especially if we combine it with moving one of Toffoli/Mangiapane so there are more roster spots for the likes of Pelletier, Coronato, and Ruzicka in the top 9 on the wings.

I add my voice to the almost unanimous chorus of Yesses in what is a VERY good ACGM. It's rare to see so many moves that are both realistic and foreseeable. Really nicely done!

My only potential criticism would be that the picks might be going the wrong way in the Seattle deal. But I could be wrong, and it's such a minor point -- who cares?

Everything looks good. Guentzel simply will make too much money in 2024 as a UFA to fit in the cap and Rust full NMC clause means it's Jake the odd man out.

Its over the draft value chart but you always need to overpay to move up. Maybe add another 4th as Mtl is flush with picks this year.

Yes, you could get more for 14. And the Seattle deal is a bust, Geekie sucks. Better off just playing DOC at center, at least he can move his feet and knows where his D zone is.

We can replace Dube internally, especially if we are adding a winger in Guentzel. We'd need to get a defenseman before another winger.

What tweaks would need to be made to the picks to build around Guentzel/Smith & Hanifin/Dube?

PIT would ask for 1st instead of 2nd
