Yes, teams that aren't even close to cap trouble will just give up a ridiculous amount of assets to get rid of a contract, in the Habs case it's not even a negative value player.

Palmieri was fantastic for the Isles down the stretch…. Why would NY pay to get rid of one of their only productive forwards? Especially now that he’s healthy….

Explain to me how a player who averages 30 points a season with 4 years left at 5 million does not have negative value please!

Because the NHL is a boys club and JA is big and skates fast. It's literally been reported multiple times over the past season that teams have made offers for him and MTL has turned down a first round pick for him. Fans don't have to like it but the fact is that GMs still value him as a player

EDM would be incalculaby better off simply buying out Campbell and Yamo than spending Broberg, Lavoie, and 2 high picks to dump their contracts.

Sharks arent doing this while in a rebuild. Vlasic would not waive either. Vlasic will finish his deal in SJ.

Because 21 of them are goals which are a hell of a lot harder to tally up than assists. Also size, speed and physicality are important aspects at the NHL level as well

Habs laugh at you. Then they take a short break just to recover their breath, than they restart laughing for a straight 10 minutes

Anderson is worth an easy first, he’s overpaid by 750K maybe. Why would the habs pay all this to move a guy who’s big, fast, can score and play on any line? Look at his 5v5 production and his goal scoring rate/60 min. Do you realize hockey is more than how many points you score divided by your cap hit? 😂 I can’t believe ppl have tho explain this to you.

Just say you know nothing about the sport. And you think he’s worth roughly 3 firsts in negative value? 😂😂

I love these kind of posts. What *insert team* should do is win every trade by a country mile and rob every GM blind. Of course any team should try to do that, but no team would be successful unless 31 clones of Jim Benning simultaneously all became GM’s of every other team.

This seems like an over-the-top way to say, “they should take cap dumps” (the Arizona model). Although some of these teams should be paying less to move cap.

But I disagree with the general approach. By landing Bedard, I think their path back is doable without becoming a dumping ground. Go for the patient rebuild. New Jersey stunk for a while, but never took anyones bad cap (we bought a year of Ryan Murray for a 5th…that is the closest thing since 2016 that would qualify as a cap dump). And NJD rebuild was probably most similar to Chicago’s rebuild in late 2000s.

Bedard, Korchinski, Greene, Nazar, Reichel, Commesso…they can get there without adopting the Arizona model.

You must be like 13 years old.

Dude had 21 goals in 69 games. In a ****hole of a Habs offence. Show me a 20+ goal PWF with elite speed that cost less than 5.5m

This is one of the worst trades from Isles POV I’ve ever seen.
