Don’t know how other Hawks fans feel about Jones, but it’s a no from me.

Jones is overpaid and he has 7 years left. I wouldn’t take him for free.

Seth Jones analytical numbers are awful, whatever Jones was he’s not that same player.

You just made the Maple Leaf’s much worse.

Sharks simply are not taking a cap dump to move up 8 spots and surrender a high 4th. Why do incessant Leafs fans keep proposing this bad offer. Dumb.

I think it's pretty clear a rebuilding team isn't interested in Marner for a number of reasons.

Do tell why they'd be so much more interested in a 28 y/o Seth Jones over a 26 y/o Mitch Marner

Contract status Hawks don't need a guy for only 2 years, RHD guys are harder to find and a hole in the Hawks system, keeping the 1st round pick , and lastly keeping Raddysh. The ONLY reason the Hawks would take Marner is to retain 50% and flip him, but his stats will suffer on a depleted Hawks team and HUGE gamble to suggest they can get more than they give up.

Regardless, Leafs don't consider this. Marner is so, so much more of an asset than Jones

Not if he doesn't resign he's not worth more than Jones, Raddysh and a 1st round pick, especially not to a rebuilding team

2 years of Marner is worth a lot more than that, yes.

Not to a rebuilding he isn't. Hawks would have to flip him with 1 year left on his agreement and retained for more then Jones, Raddysh and a 1st round pick.

Bottom line, this has zero legs and what everyone is saying on here with comments and boosts to comments

Not. Gonna. Happen.

Maybe, Jones and the 1st overall to Toronto for nadda. That’s how bad Jones’ contract is.

LOL Matthews isn't worth the 1st OA pick, nor is his future contract

9.5 million over max term buys you almost any player in UFA. It’s a lot of money wasted on Jones. Sure I was being sarcastic about the #1 overall. Bedard is a star. He compares to Kucherov IMO. 125 points. That said it would take multiple firsts to take on Jones. If Jones was tradable the Hawks would have done it last year.

Jones is tradable and at $7.5M he's a deal that plenty of teams would take and give up assets for. Hawks need a veteran guy on the blue line and they aren't about to retain $2M per year for 7 years taking up a valuable retention slot and $14M in dead cap space. Hawks therefore have not shopped Jones, so it's not that he's "not tradable" it's that they aren't going to retain for 7 years.

I wouldn’t want him for a penny over 6. Even at 6 there are better D.

You must not watch him enough then. I'd easily rather have jones at 6 than Reilly at 7.5, who for all his offense is porous defensively as we see in the playoffs.
