PLD is on an expiring contract, looking to get anywhere from 7-9 mil on his next deal, wants to test FA so will only sign a 1 year deal, is not a 1st line center, isn't better than Horvat or Meier and Montreal is too weak at RHD to consider Barron or Mailloux in a trade. For all these reasons he will not fetch 2 1st round picks + in value. I seriously doubt that we trade either Mailloux or Barron and Gawanke is an AHL lifer so really isn't going to replace the loss of either of our prospects.

Mailloux is mot a 1st round pick in value anymore buddy. He can't even play in the NHL yet. He's worth about a mid second. If he's so valuable swap Mailloux with pick 37 since he's "worth more".

If mtl passes so be it he'll go to another place and sign long tern to stick it to mtl for not showing them that they wanted him so much that they trade for him. Why would he sign in mtl as a fa if mtl has done nothing to help him want to be there. If I'm him in 2024 and he actually makes it to ufa I'm going "mtl you didn't want to get me when my contract would have been better for you now I'm asking 9.5m plus maybe 10m and if not someone else is going to pay it" if you don't need him why does every 2nd agm trade or sign him? He'll cost the most important asset being the major cap increase from a competitive ufa market and teams that are better fits with better tax situations beat you out and hope that he signs even for 9.5m😂😂😂
