Backlund is 34 and doesn't fit our window, Not trading the 41st overall pick in a deep draft for an aging Centerman.

Detroit doesn't want Backlund. Look elsewhere.

I'd take Backlund for that price personally

But a team who are more in win now mode would likely pay more than the Wings for a guy like him

Could play 2C or Copp/ Kasper 2C and Backlund 3C. He's a really good defensive forward that can put up 40-50 points. I don't think the price is terrible but would rather a future second and maybe someone like Neiderbach going the other way. He likely gets a nice return at the deadline, probably more than what we would pay now.

Hoping Backlund stays and wins the cup with CGY

No way to that 4th line. Ritchie is a Defensive & Penalty Taking Liability, Nosek isn’t anything special and Hathaway will be 32 in Nov, so unless he’s going to play LW for $1-1.5mil/yr x 1-2 yrs, there’s better options, including Duehr at 4RW

Noth teams decline, Backlund is worth more but Detroit isn't close enough for him to make sense
