Washington would most likely accept this and turn around to move another d-man. I don't know where he would slot in the capitals line up but i believe Alexyev would become expendable

I wouldn't take Michkov at 4 if I'm the caps. We need a player who is going to jump into the NHL right away, and that would be Leo Carlsson. If he's still available, we take him imo.

In terms of value for this trade, it's a lot to give up, but it might be pretty fair depending on Ferraro's value.

Probably move Alexyev unfortunately. Maybe move him for a young forward or play him at 7D which isn't a bad option.

The isles wouldn’t trade Bailey 1 for 1 for Labanc as they both produce at the same rate. They are both cap dumps and isles would no be adding any picks. You can have bailey with a 2nd but Labanc is not coming back the other way.

I dunno, if that's the cost to trade up 4 spots, I think I'm out. Would rather trade back a bit and nab Stenberg or Perrault, or trade the 8oa for a top 6 winger

Really can’t see the leafs paying a ransom for 4 years of an ageing asset, even with retention and even considering Murray move

Paying a ransom? That’s $5.5 mil for a 2C who will put up 70 points while dumping over $4 mil, that’s a steal

Dude is 34, 38 at end of contract.$5.5M is ridiculous commitment for 4 years - he’s a bigger cap dump than Murray at 1 year

A 70 point player isn’t a cap dump that’s the flaw in your reasoning

For sure he is, he’s 34 with 4 years on big ticket left. Proof is that you won’t be able to move him without sweetener

Couture with that retention is $50k cheaper per point than Matthews. Even without retention he’s cheaper per point by $20k. He’s not a cap dump and they don’t need to add to move him.

He’s 34 bud; Gio was Norris calibre dman but at 38 he no longer is. Bound to be regression but agree to disagree - no chance I touch couture and that contract - aav even with retention is steep but the term is nuclear waste

I wouldn't do it from a caps perspective but just because I'm really low on Ferraro. Definitely interesting though
