I think Winnipeg would be extremely happy with that offer.

parayko flat out sucked this year. He was consistently very good prior to last season though so It is not the time for STL to move on

Parayko too much money too much term for what I would gamble with at this point. Rather have someone that contract ends sooner or more tradeable term

You could have Demelo for much less. Say Jokiharju for Demelo straight up.

I did propose that in a previous ACGM and Jets fans felt it was too low.

This is a very popular trade scenario between BUF and WPG and one that seems like a win win.

I don’t see how the Sabres could give all that up for him unless there was an extension involved
And if Hellebuyck was willing to sign an extension as part of the trade- would the Sabres agree to the length of the extension he would want?
Idk about that
He’s 31, and if he’s looking for 5-7 years, idk that the Sabres would do that

My thing with Parayko is he has 7 years left on his deal. He’s 30 already. No thanks. Sabres have to sign Dahlin and Power. Not to mention what if Quinn and Peterka have breakout seasons? There’s only so much money to go around and I’m not interested in paying 6.5 mil to a 30 year old for 7 seasons

If Hellebuyck was signed for more than a year, I’d agree
However, idk that the Sabres are gonna want to give up what it would take to get him u less there was an extension involved
And idk that the Sabres would be willing to go as many years as Hellebuyck would likely want

Don’t think it’s as cut & dry as it seems on the surface

Buffalo declines the Jets trade, would be idiotic to trade that much to get a goalie for a year who’ll want a ridiculous contract as a UFA.

Have negative interest in Parayko, even if he rebounds from last year his contract is a boat anchor.

I 100% believe that Helly and his agent will be allowed to speak with any team that WPG and Helly believe will make good trading partners. If Helly feels like it's a team he would sign long term with and that team speaks with him and they have an understanding in principle, the deal would be made based on those conversations. It would be unwritten in the contract or somehow put in there as a deal like... Helly for Krebs and Luukkonen. If Helly signs an extension before the draft, WPG receives the 2023 1st round pick (BUF). If he doesn't sign by then, but signs before the next draft than WPG receives the 2024 1st round pick (BUF). If Helly doesn't resign at all, then the deal stays as it is with Krebs and Luukkonen. Something like that. All parties "know" that Helly is signing a deal with BUF now, so win win win.

U missed my point
Hellebuyck will presumably want a long term extension
Doubtful the Sabres will want to give a long term extension to a 31 year old goalie

Yeah, that would be the thing. I think the Jets will trade Hellebuyck to a team where he is willing to extend, you get the maximum return. But what he's looking for in a contract, who knows.

Could be a bobrovsky to Florida type scenario with sometime to decide, I believe there is a 4 year window, where the right veteran makes sense to share the crease with Levi and any other kid option competing, do you offer up larger for hart and have a extended tandem run hopefully in the budget, or Gibson that probably fits the term and money pretty well perfectly, or do you jump the line on helly and possibly buy 6 months to decide on the extension, because not in the running when the contract runs out. The need is definitely there, just the best course of action is questionable on assets to needed to acquire and budget going forward. Interesting quandary

If he would agree to something like a 3 year extension,
then i think the Sabres would be on board
My guess is that he’d want more years though

Wouldn't do the Parayko trade, and if we are giving the 2023 1st and Krebs for Helly. I would want DeMelo added and I will add Joker.

Tough to say what would happen
I am confident we have plenty of pieces the Jets would want
Not so confident we’d agree to the length of the extension that Hellebuyck would want

For sure, that 23 pick is probably what makes or breaks the deal, everything is just fluff and conjecture. I still see a scenario where Comrie is in the package even, something else shiny or two. Then a stanley or heinola coming back also. Not completely sold that Chevy going to get max value out of any assets. Possibly some sort of replay of kane and bogosian for myers picks and spare parts trade.

Helly just turned 30 12 days ago. Thinking 6 years at $8M. That way he's the starter for 2 or 3 years and then moves to back up like Goalie Bob has done.
