Description
Did the same as malkin and letang deals. Gave some ufa more term to keep the AAV down. This seems the strategy as the contracts will age terribly but theyll be able to go harder the next couple years

Montreal decline. Replace Montembault with Allen. Smith is the price to get rid of Granlund. So a first isn’t enough for Monty + Eddy + Dvo
      Caufield liked this.

That Keller deal though. Coyotes would never negotiate with PIT again after this offer

Just for reference, Keller would prob be traded for the equivalent of 4th or even 3rd OA. 14th OA and Pickering is far from that.

Coyotes laugh at the offer for Keller. No way Pickering and a mid first round are worth Keller.

The Jeff Carter trade is ridiculous as it doesn't have any basis in reality. The ducks or any team isn't just going to take on his contract. Even if they could just LTIR him, which they can't, no owner is going to shell out over 3 million for nothing.

You are vastly overpaying for Tarasenko. His agent wouldn't even ask his client he would just say yes and draw up the paperwork.

I don't think the Penguins have the assets for Keller. I'd love to have him, but he's honestly a little too all-in to be plausible.

We're stuck with Carter. I have serious doubts that he waives to go anywhere and we can't LTIRetire him unless he actually gets hurt.

Loathe the Montreal deal for Pittsburgh. Edmundson is a liability and Dvorak isn't interesting. We can find better elsewhere. Montembeault had a career year and both evolving-hockey and moneypuck ranked him 13th in GSAx. But nothing else in his career comes remotely close to that and goalies are notoriously inconsistent. Would we even be getting '22-'23 Monty?
In exchange, we give up a 1st and a solid young defenseman. We can buy out Granlund for cheap, no need to lower our trade value by adding him.

Tarasenko, Pacioretty, and Anderson all are older than 30 and have had significant health issues in their careers. We're too old to begin with and they don't fix that issue. And it's less of a concern for Vladdy, but how many games can we expect out of those three? The best ability is availablity.

This isn't all-in. This is getting older and more forward heavy. And it cost us 2 firsts and 2 promising young defensemen. Probably quite a bit more. IMO, we'd need a lot of things to go right for this roster to make the playoffs.

I would like to add a bit more grit (Matthew Tkachuk types) and a better goalie than Andersen.
