Necas had 2 less points and is 2 years younger and plays center, Jersey would have to add a fair bit here

Necas has played center in the NHL, but it was under Peters and during Rod's 1st season. It's been a while, but he's shown he can do it

And if it was up to Rod Aho would still be on the wing

With $7+ million in cap space, we wouldn’t have to make this type of move. If we were to sell Bratt, we should get a player of similar value.

I'm sorry, what? Necas isn't of similar value to Bratt?

Rob became head coach for the 2018-19 season where necas played 7 games. In 2017-18 necas played 1 game under Peters. You can’t use a 8 game sample to say he played center in the NHL. please look stuff up before saying it. Necas is not a center in the NHL. Not saying he won’t become one but you can’t say he has the value of a center based on 8 games.

Both players are 24. Necas doesn't play center, and bratt produced much more effectevily even strength. The devils don't need cap that badly next year to be worth the downgrade.

I knew it was only 8 games, but that is enough to say he played C in the NHL. Not to mention, he did it when the team was covid affected to great effect last year. He's done it several times this year. He doesn't show there on the lineup card, but he played a significant amount of time down the middle. Please look stuff up before saying it.

If you want to ask where, go look at Moneypuck's lines, Necas played C this year a fair bit

Necas plays C, Bratt is a year older, he turns 25 in July, Necas turned 24 in Feburary. Necas has game breaking speed that Bratt doesn't. He's the better player here, don't try and argue Necas is a downgrade because that just shown you're clueless lmao

Don't think you could get two more similar players based on last season Oh, at least for this season Necas is 4m cheaper. Canes have done a very good job, keeping their "family" together. Even trading guys of equal value can disrupt a team.

Unicorns, man.

Bratt is closer to Svechnikov than to Necas.

8 games is not a big enough sample size. He played wing this year but took faceoffs on his strong side so KK wasn’t on his weak side. You can’t say he played center. He’s a winger

Necas is a year younger. Necas plays C. Necas hits the fastest top speed of any player in the NHL. Necas had 2 less points and Bratt plays on a team with Jack Hughes. I know you're smarter than that. C'mon

Bratt has great speed.

Basic stats show bratt as better. (more points goals, and significantly more even strength production)
Basic analytics show bratt as better (better on ice xgoals%, as well as the devils being better with better with bratt on the ice and carolina being better with necas off the ice)
The advanced analytics say it isn't even close, with bratt having seasons of 20 and 24 xGAR, (7.6 combined xWar), and necas last 2 seasons of -3.4 and 8.6 xGAR (0.9 combined WAR).

Why is moneypuck more reliable than capfriendly. Use the eye test and see his a winger. He’s a center for 8 games then gets sent down to AHL then moves to wing as he can get to the NHL quicker. He’s a winger.

Except he played C this year. AND CapFriendly lists him as a part-time center because of it.

Part time center? Like he takes faceoffs on his strong side so his center KK isn’t on his weak side? Thank you for confirming what I said.

Bratt has great speed, Necas is the fastest skater in the NHL.

Necas is a year younger, can play a more valuable position and makes a projected 4 million bucks less... stop it

Dude he’s not a center. He doesn’t have the trade value of a center. Bratt is worth more.
