Dude he’s not a center. He doesn’t have the trade value of a center. Bratt is worth more.

He also was 45% with 230ish faceoffs taken. Not a center

Conveniently, Necas played about 20% of his ice time as a center this season according to Moneypuck, and about 22% according to HockeyViz...

Cool he takes the faceoffs when KK is kicked out of the circle, someone has to take them then

Cool, now explain why he played between 20-22% of his ice time as a center?

So he’s not even close to being a center. You are building my argument more and more.

Bratt has great speed, Necas is the fastest skater in the NHL.

https://twitter.com/NHL/status/1542245276961890304

Necas is a year younger, can play a more valuable position and makes a projected 4 million bucks less... stop it

Got anything from this year? Alex formenton is also number 2 on this list lmao.

Necas is only 5 months younger at an age where players plateau, plays the same position (both wingers), and is a clearly worse player. 1 single year of cap savings, which the devils DO NOT NEED, doesn't move that needle

I'm afraid he is. Necas is dynamite (and so is Bratt)

Necas is a great player, but is a good tier below Bratt.

Canes wouldn’t trade svech but at least your smart enought to know bratt is comparable to him and better than necas

While I'd say Necas and Bratt were roughly equally good this past season, if any team are adding it should be the Canes based on Bratt having more 1st line level seasons under his belt than Necas.
But if this situation would come down to the Devils having to choose between having Bratt on a non-longterm deal (ie 3 years and below) vs trading Bratt for Necas with the ability to sign him longterm at not too big a cap hit, then the Devils should heavoöy consider doing this swap.

Nope, don't see it. Necas was seemingly just as impactful this season as Bratt was.

Necas is 7 months younger, plays center and it clearly as good who is faster. Drop the Devils bias here

you've went from 2 years to 1 year, to 7 months, and all 3 are wrong

Jesper bratt is 24 years and 305 days old.
necas is 24 years and 136 days old.
169 days, or 5 months and some days.
Less than half a year gap. THEY ARE THE SAME AGE.

If necas was a true center he'd have taken the 2C role considering his competition for that spot is a clear 3C in jesperi kotkaniemi.

Faster=/= better. Especially when jesper bratt is also a top tier skater.

Jesper bratt is the BETTER player.

July to late January is 7 months.

Bratt is a worse skater, has minimally better production playing with better players, is older, and Necas will make ~ 4 million less. Necas is the MORE VALUABLE player. Deal with it

Counting 1 day of july as a full month and calling january 15th "late january". Lol you can't be serious.

Bratt scored 43 points 5v5 (20-23) in 1136 minutes
Necas scored 35 points 5v5 (13-22) in 1162 minutes
Wouldn't personally call 23% better point production and 54% better goal production "minimally better" that's just me tho.

1 year being cheaper means nothing when the devils DO NOT NEED CAP SPACE THIS YEAR.

you keep stating "worse skater" like it matters when bratt is still more productive. Bratt is a significantly better shooter, and the shooting gap is bigger than the skating gap.

Necas has record 28 rush attempts in his career. Same amount as Bratt had at even strength…last season. Bratt has consistently generated more high danger scoring chances (about 30% more). Bratt has better g/60, a/60, pts/60 rates. This is just a silly path to go down.

Also, the fastest recorded skater this year was Ryan Poehling. Top speed means nothing if you cannot use to gain separation. That is Bratt’s bailiwick.

Based on his logic of: skating ability, age, point production, we'll offer bratt for aho and surely Carolina would be okay with it.

Are you talking about playoffs? I haven’t compared how they did in post-season. I am just looking at regular season, where Bratt has been noticeably better, for longer. But Jesper cooled in playoffs, so maybe there is a case there.

As for the trade, I am not saying it’s a career-ender for a GM…but it could be if Bratt signs at market rate or below. It is a giant L for NJD.

Bratt’s contract is the missing piece here.

Bratt extended = Svechnikov
Bratt on QO = Necas

(give or take)

Wide range there.
