That will only get Pettersson if the Canucks are rebuilding, not Demko as well

Canucks decline. Deal has quantity, but lacks the superstar quality piece the Canucks would want if they were to trade Pettersson. The ask would start with one of either Thompson or Dahlin coming back.

Canucks pass, you need Dahlin or Thompson plus in any Pettersson trade

Sharks should accept that. Comrie is a solid tanking goalie along with Kahkonen were pretty set for another top 4 pick.

Depends on what they want to do. If they're shipping EP it's either for lateral readiness assets or they're entering a complete rebuild where QH would be shipped off too.
I don't think they're going to ship out literally everyone, so I think they'd target more NHL-ready star power.

Imo if they are trading Peterson, it should be another total teardown.

Then they'd probably target Power+. But EP is 24; he's a player that they'd probably build around before they try a total rebuild.

They can target all they want, they won't get a player like power. The original package already includes 3 firsts+.

It takes Cozens, one of Ostlund or Savoie and a 1st as your starting point.

Think it's a matter of quality over quantity. EP is one of the best players in the league. Although Savoie and Kulich look phenomenal, they just aren't good enough for EP. A top player deserves top assets.

Pettersson is completely untouchable unless there's a truly ELITE piece coming back the other way, deal is Dahlin or Thompson plus a pick and prospect and even then I doubt VAN does it. The fact you also have Demko here is just adding insult to injury.
Also any Demko deal would have to involve Levi coming back the other way.

this would be a total teardown if they're trading both EP40 and Demko

Would also be curious as to why they'd do a total teardown when they have EP who would be a great build around piece.

they won't, they have one of the best cores in the NHL but Vancouver fans are stupid and always want a rebuild, how you give up on a core of Pettersson, Hughes, Demko, Kuzmenko and Miller idk...

And you're also asking for Demko. If Van does this they need the value of 5 firsts

It's strange, but instability in management will do that.

Yes, it would. The Canucks aren't trading Pettersson, he is untouchable. To convince them to even think about moving him, you'd have to include one of those two. If not, then the Canucks wouldn't even think twice about passing. You don't trade a player of Pettersson's calibre for a bunch of quantity, you trade him for quality.

Teams also don't make trades like that. Very rarely do lateral trades happen like that. Teams who trade players like ep, are rebuilding so quality futures are usually involved. The original trade has 3 quality pieces in it at the very least. Also dahlin> ep.

Dahlin you can argue as high as 6 and as low as 9. He’s not better than Makar, Fox, McAvoy, Hedman, or Josi. He’s in the same tier as Heiskanen, Hughes, and Toews

Pettersson you can argue as high as 5 and as low as 8. He’s not better than McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews, or Draisaitl. He’s in the same tier as Crosby, Barkov, and Hughes

I don't know. Petey could pull a Tkachuk type of situation and want out.
