The AZ trade is awful for CHI. Absolutely would not do that. The rest is meh.

This should be a message that auto comes up any time a CHI fan tries to make a AGM. So infuriating.

At most, if the caps have to pay to get rid of Mantha it'll be a 3rd. It's not like he's an LTIR player he's going to give you 35-40 points in a full 82. And his contract isn't bad at all, especially for a Chicago team that will need to get to the cap floor, with one year left he's most likely a rental for the Blackhawks to get skill for Bedard and not to force Reichel into 1st line role. If anything I can see the Blackhawks giving the caps a 5th, 6th or 7th straight up for Mantha, but the caps mostly likely pay to get rid of him

No way Chicago does that ARI trade. Can't see them trading 2 young players who will become regulars in the lineup and 2 1st round picks in a deep draft. And to a future division rival yet.

I like the Manta trade but it depends how desperate the Caps will be to shed salary.

Unless there is someone the Hawks really, really likes at 31 or 32, I'd keep the two 2nd's.

No idea what hawks fans are on but that Keller trade isn’t even remotely considered by Arizona

You realize this trade with a high 5th going back makes this the value of a late 2nd (value chart in Athletic would make the net of the picks #50OA) and starting to get in the zipcode of a 3rd? Interesting that you would talk about 35-40 points over 82 with a player that has only played more than 67 games in a season ONCE in his entire career. When he plays only 50-60% of the games (which is his undeniable history) and puts up 25 points, you'll have spent 6.5 million actual dollars and 5.7 in cap for THAT. For half of Mantha's salary, the Hawks can bring back Anthanasiou who actually played 81 games and put up 40 points and not have to do some kind of hope projection. Take the other half and of what you would otherwise waste on Mantha and grab another UFA...maybe Drouin to build up with PP time/top 6 and flip for a decent pick if it works.

Mantha with his actual durability and actual production history is a 2-3 million dollar player owed 6.5 which is not a 3rd to dump. Hawks just took Zaitsev (who at this point should be 1-2 million tops) at 4.5 million for #44OA and a 4th.

That is an overpay to get the Vegas 1st. Those picks value out at #25 not 32. I would offer those picks to NYR at 23 and if they say no, Col at 27 might say yes as they have no 2nd, 3rd, or 4th and the Hawks are paying a slight premium in value to make that move.

If the Hawks are willing to pay 4 first (even late) round picks (Vlasic was a high 2nd that has developed nicely and TRad is the combo of production and cap hit that nets 1st's at the deadline) for Keller, Davidson should be fired immediately cause he could have just kept DeBrincat to fill that diminuative winger better and had 3 first rounders.

That's because they bought "two" years on Zaitsev's contract. Mantha would be on their books for one season, and y'all need to get to the cap floor, I think you're forgetting that. Zaitsev also has a m-ntc, Mantha does not which would lower the value of taking the Mantha contract.

Some funny stuff here. Yes, Hawks did eat a partial year (20ish games) post trade deadline with Zaitsev....all of 1.2 million in cash and cap which puts the grand total on Zaitsev at 5.7 cash and cap....or just a hair less in cap than we are talking with about Mantha and 800K less in actual payroll. Guessing Zaitsev's 10 team no trade list is not much for leverage when presented with the alternative of we are going to waive you and (when no one claims you) send you to the AHL where you can ride around in buses and have Chipolte for lunches instead of the catered fancy stuff.

Mantha is basically Zaitsev and expecting the #40OA (as opposed to #44OA and a 4th for 800K more in real money) is far from the insult or stretch or whatever nonsense people want to explain this away with. It is one thing to say we won't pay going rate to dump him because we don't have to clear the space and can survive with him on the books for a year, but actually thinking someone is taking 5.7 in cap and 6.5 million to buy a 3rd round pick (or that somehow Mantha playing 60-65 game and putting up 25 points is not a full on dump and some how "value") is silliness. Hawks don't "need" Mantha to get to the cap floor and can simply sign two mid-tier UFA's and will almost certainly get more man games played and points produced out of those 2 than they will out of Mantha.

Try that it sucks for Arizona, picks are late Vlasic has very little value Raddysh is the only decent piece for a young 24 86 point winger. Try more like it sucks for Arizona. That offer is beaten for Clayton Keller.

I see your point of view. It still sucks for Hawks. These are 4 pieces for 1, 2 of which are currently in the NHL. When you rebuild you need pieces and to fill holes, not just a handful of guys who can score (a la Toronto).

I wouldn’t go as far as saying Vlasic has no value. He’s slated to be a full time NHL player next season at only 21 years old and is a 6’6” shutdown defenseman.

Sorry had the wrong Vlasic in mind, The late 1st alone would kill the deal. Teams going after Keller will offer up far better than late 1st.

Hope they keep him. He's so good. Just needs a better coach than Lavi.
