Trade down

Created by: Blacktown
Team: 2023-24 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: May 31, 2023
Published: May 31, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sharks organization claims they are seeking intelligent and tenacious player in this draft.
Leonard is a hard working physical two-way forward with a strong hockey IQ and two way game.
Fisker Molgaard is the same but more defensively inclined. Same for Felix Nilsson who projects more to the bottom six. With the Sharks 26th and 36th picks they take Halttunen (size and scoring ability) and Tom Willander as RHD prospect. Sounds like a Mike Grier draft to me.

Leonard, Molgaard, Nilsson, Halttunen are likely available at those spots. But Willander will be gone before #26th pick.

What about trading with Detroit for #9 and #17?

If they really want to trade down, that’s the team to do it with

I'd prefer the Sharks get a better quality guy at #4.

Sharks should only do this if they absolutely know that Michkov will fall to 6th

Hard disagree on that. He could easily be more valuable than Smith in 4-5 years time when the Sharks are competing again.

If Detroit really wanted someone at 4 then yeah. If Carlsson is there at 4 then sharks dont move at all.

Willander is ranked all over the place as high as 8 and low as 51 but mostly in the 20s via all the major scouting platforms.

Best bet, it goes like…
1. Bedard
2. Fantilli
3. Carlsson

- - SJS trades pick to DET for 9, 17 - -

4. Smith
5. Michkov
6. Leonard
7. Dvorsky
8. Reinbacher

…SJS back on the clock.

Worth it?

(Would be getting two of…Moore, Benson, Perreault, Willander, Danielson, Honzek, Sale, Wood, Simashev)

Probably worth it to get Moore and Willander. Something still tells me this team will regret not drafting Michkov.
