Don't know how fast the blues decline. Marner is no where near this valuable to return a young potential 1C, a top line winger, a Grade A prospect, and another first. I wouldn't trade Thomas straight up for Marner considering their contracts let alone adding to him

I agree it's way too much but not trading Thomas for Marner SU? I get Marner makes more money but people here make it seem like the guy is an avg player. He's a 3 time 90 pt player. Something Thomas hasn't seen once

Thomas is 23, dude. And he did score exactly at a 90 point pace in 21-22. And he's signed to a great deal for eight years. And he's the future captain. And thisbtrade would go directly against their needs, creating more problems than it solves. There is so far less than zero chance the Blues would even ponder trading Thomas straight up for Marner it needs a new scientific word invented. Maybe something German and strict sounding.

Marner is the better player but he is only signed for 2 years at nearly a 11 mil cap hit. Thomas meanwhile is signed for 8 years at 8 mil cap hit. I'd rather have Thomas for 8 years than Marner at 2 years. Also Marner is notorious for trying to get the most money and I doubt the blues are going to sign him to the contract he wants which will probably be around 12-13 mil. Also the blues are weak down the middle and our best prospects are wingers, so therefore it makes no sense to trade Thomas for Marner

It's an overpayment but not a huge overpayment. All 3 blues players are either already great or project to be great players, but none of them project to be superstars. Downgrading one of them to a bottom six player, or removing the first round pick would be a fairer trade.

Leafs say that it's donee and no take backs and start planning the parade because they have good, young players to back fill their 2nd and 3rd line, which creates the triple threat that most teams can't defend
